Kid-Friendly Sushi Bake Recipe

Hi everyone, as promised, I’ll try my best to post again on a weekly baisis. Today’s post is one of the easiest and “less ligpit” dinners in our house. I am sure at one point you have tried to make this, or ordered this online, but I am sharing you a slightly tweaked, kid-friendly version of the recipe. 

If you have long been a reader of this blog, you will know that I usually go for the easy nutritious meals for my brood. It is not easy to juggle homeschooling and three kids and so we are all for made from scratch freezer meals, meal planning, and easy, filling and nutritious meals.

Child-friendly Sushi Bake is super yummy

Unlike most sushi bake recipes, this one does not use Sriracha since my children are sensitive to spicy food (like most kids are). While we use cucumber half the time, there are times I run out of it. One day, I tried to use apples since that is the closes thing to cucumber in my vegetable chiller. Apples turned out to be a good, crunchy substitute that enhances the flavor of the other ingredients in this child-friendly sushi bake.

Based on my experience, this promises to be a happy, child-friendly sushi bake recipe in both taste and dining experience. I am sure that just like my kids, yours will also enjoy scooping spoonfuls upon spoonfuls of this baked sushi recipe in their nori sheets like making baby tacos! Yum and easy!

Anyway, this recipe is good for a family of five, and I usually bake it in a casserole dish, an extra large loaf pan, or in individual aluminum trays.  Without further ado, here is my Kid-Friendly Version of Sushi Bake.  

Sushi Bake for Kids

Ingredients:

7-8 pcs of crabsticks chopped
1 medium sized ripe mangoes, cubed
1 big apple or two small apples, chopped
1/4 cup Kewpie Japanese Mayo
3 tbsp softened cream cheese
Furikake Seasoning
1 1/2 to 2 cups cooked Japanese Rice or any
2 tbsp Japanese vinegar
1 tsp sugar
1.2 tsp salt

Procedure in Making Child-Friendly Sushi Bake

1. Preheat oven to 350F
2. Mix the Japanese mayo and softened cream cheese until fully combined. Set aside
3. Toss the mango  cubes, chopped crabsticks, and chopped apples.
4. Add the mayo-cream cheese dressing. Combine and set aside. .
5. in a sauce pan heat the vinegar, and add the salt and sugar. simmer until fully combines (less than a minute.
6. Add the rice and mix well.
7. Assemble the sushi bake by putting the rice on the baking container. flatten it so that i will be leveled.
8. Sprinkle some furikake seasoning.
9. Add the crabstick-mango-apple-mayo mixture.
10. Sprinkle more furikake.
11. Drizzle more Japanese mayo
12. Bake for 10 minutes.
13. Serve with nori sheets.

So that is it! if you have left overs, you can transfer it into a smaller container, and reheat it the next day. Still perfect! Hope you’ll like this recipe, and till next post!
