Daily Devotional: The Teacher

As moms, we are not just our child’s first teacher in terms of 1-2-3’s and A-B-C’s. We are their foremost and forever teachers on how to love and serve God and others. As present-day followers of Jesus, let us heed this calling by exposing our children to God’s word, and by modeling to them a God-honoring lifestyle that they are to emulate.

Deuteronomy 6:6-7
Deuteronomy 6:6-7

“These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” Deuteronomy 6:6-7

When we teach our children the love of God, and encourage them to have a heart that seeks His wisdom, we leave with them a legacy of faith. A faith that will be rewarded by a gracious Heavenly Father who loves to shower His children with love, grace, and mercy.

“My son, do not lose sight of these— keep sound wisdom and discretion, and they will be life for your soul and adornment for your neck. Then you will walk on your way securely, and your foot will not stumble. If you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.” Proverbs 3:21-24

Thank you for reading through our devotional today. I invite you to ponder on Proverbs 3:13-27 to dig deeper on today’s topic.

Reflection Question: Have you taken to heart God’s command to teach your children about His words and teachings?

Conversation with the Lord: Heavenly Father, thank you for giving me the privilege of being a mom. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to raise them into your likeness. Please give me the confidence to continue doing so, and empower me to be a good teacher to them, so that they can do Your will in their lives. Amen.
