Daily devotional: The Covering

Parenting challenges may make us doubt our capacity to raise our children. But when we do our best to parent our children the way God wants us to, His sufficient grace will cover our weak spots, help us endure difficult moments, redeem our wrong decisions, and even restore relationships.

“But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”  2 Corinthians 12:9

Ephesians 3:19
Ephesians 3:19

As present-day followers of Jesus, the Lord has empowered us to raise the children that He Himself has entrusted to us. And as we endeavor to raise them according to His teachings and model them a God-honoring life, may we trust that God will fill in the gaps for us. That He would touch our children’s heart to understand us, and give them the grace to be obedient children.

“His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.” 2 Peter 1:3

And so as we live each day, may we continue to use God’s word as our guide in making decisions for our children. May we rely on His loving presence to guide us through every motherhood season and lean on Him for our every need. And may we always, always, choose to trust in His unfailing love.

“And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.” Ephesians 3:18-19

Thank you for reading through our devotional today. I invite you to ponder on Ephesians 3:14-21 to dig deeper on today’s topic.

Reflection Question:  Reflection Question: Are you doubting your parenting skills? How can faith in God strengthen you to endure the challenges of motherhood?

Conversation with the Lord: Heavenly Father, thank you for encouraging me to become the best mom that I can be. May I continue to trust in your unfailing love to fill in the gaps and cover my insufficiencies. I love you Lord. Amen.
