Daily devotional: Cactus

Walang green thumb, green thumb sa pagtatanim ng galit. Kahit ano pang rason ang gamitin mong fertilizer para patubuin yan, walang magandang ibubunga, lalo na para sayo mismo na nagtatanim. Decide to forgive today.

Luke 6:35
Luke 6:35

“But I say to you who hear, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you. To one who strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also, and from one who takes away your cloak do not withhold your tunic either.” Luke 6:27-29

When we let go of our hate, anger, resentments, and bitterness, para tayong nakapagbura ng maraming storage space sa phones natin. We create space for new memories, we will not be slow or bogged down.

And when we decide to forgive even if they are not apologizing, kapag nagpakahumble tayo even if we think they do not deserve it, and pag nagtimpi tayo to have the last say, at nakapagpigil tayo gumanti, we get to please the One who has promised to avenge us. He will even reward us for loving the unlovable, and showing extra grace to those who intentionally hurt us.

“But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil.” Luke 6:35

But wait, there’s more. Of course when we forgive, we will also be forgiven. Since we will never be perfect, and we fail to follow from time to time, we will be given the grace to start anew, because we have decided to follow what Jesus commanded us na magpatawad.

“For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.” Matthew 6:14-15

So mahirap man, masakit man sa puso natin, let us forgive those who have hurt us, and trust God that He will do what He says, and will defend, protect, and even avenge us.

“Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord.” Romans 12:17-19

Thank you for reading our devotional today. Kindly read Luke 6:27-36 for a deeper dive on our article for today.

Reflection Question: Do you harbor hate and resentment in your heart. How can offering up to God your bruised emotions, and trusting that He will take care of those who hurt us, make you feel calm?

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for asking us to give up our hate and anger. We know that in the end, it is us who will benefit from letting go of these painful emotions. Help me to trust in your promise that you will take care of me, and that you will do what is just. Amen.
