It is not life if it is lived without Christ. You are not made to
just exist and survive the day, every single day. You are meant to
experience the daily joy and peace of a life worth living, because
Jesus Christ died for you to have exactly that.
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they
may have life and have it abundantly.” John 10:10
When Christ is your only source of affirmation, you will never have to
give in to vain pursuits. You will no longer run after endeavors meant
to impress others but leave you tired and empty.
No more overtime work for that grand vacation social media album.
There will be no more overspending over a meal you really do not feel
like eating. No more over indulgence in luxuries you cannot even
afford. You can finally be free, because your thirst has finally been
quenched.
“Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me
will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be
thirsty.” John 6:35
You have realized that after all these years, it was your spirit that
was parched, dry, and thirsty, and only Jesus’ forgiveness and
manifest presence in your life, through His word, could quench that
deep longing and thirst in your heart.
It is his assurance that He will never abandon you nor forsake and
reject you that could make you finally stop jumping from one
relationship to another. It is the clean slate that He is offering
that could finally remove the shame you bear, that keeps you from
shining brightly. And as He finally restored your dignity through
forgiveness, you can finally stop running to the temporary comforts
that food binges, substances, and other addictions wrongly promised
you.
“You shall be a crown of beauty in the hand of the Lord, and a royal
diadem in the hand of your God. You shall no more be termed Forsaken,
and your land shall no more be termed Desolate, but you shall be
called My Delight Is in Her, and your land Married; for the Lord
delights in you, and your land shall be married.” Isaiah 62:3-4
You no longer have to go through one cosmetic procedure after another,
or add yet another tattoo on your skin just to feel beautiful and
accepted. When you discovered how Christ sees you, you finally got to
know your true worth.
“For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my
mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.” Psalm 139:13-14
And indeed, growing your knowledge about Christ through His words,
will give you the eternal source of strength, joy and peace, this
world can never offer.
“You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he
trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an
everlasting rock.” Isaiah 26:3-4
Thank you for reading through our devotional today. I invite you to
ponder on John 4:1-26 to dig deeper on today’s topic.
Reflection Question: Are you finally aware of your true worth in
Christ? How can He quench your thirst for the true meaning of life
today?
Conversation with the Lord: Heavenly Father, thank you for being the
