Daily devotional: The Guarantee

While being a follower of Jesus does not exempt us from the hardships in this world, we are all assured that the Lord will be with us to help endure the troubles that will come our way.

Isaiah 43:1-2

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

We are likewise assured that He knows how we feel, because He has walked the Earth.  And that even if we are going through hard times because of the wrong choices that we made, the moment we confess it to Him, ask for His forgiveness and step away from our sinful life, we will have the peace that He will help us endure the consequences of our actions. That He will stay with us, as we go through our ordeals.

“Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.” Isaiah 43:1-2

Moreover, we are assured that none of our tears will be wasted. That each difficulty that we will experience whether it is because of God’s discipline, or His pruning to improve our character, all of it will be for our own good.

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28

Thank you for reading through our devotional today. I invite you to ponder on Isaiah 43:1-5 to dig deeper on today’s topic.

Reflection Question: How does knowing that God will be with us in all the hardships we face make all your troubles bearable for you? How can you let others know about this truth?

Conversation with the Lord: Heavenly Father, thank you for your assurance that you will be with us no matter what. Allow us to confidently hold on to this promise, and may you give us the strength and courage to hold on to you amidst the struggles we face. Amen.
