In this season of celebrations, parties, and social gatherings let us take up the opportunity to point our loved ones and friends to Jesus. Let us not shy away from leading the prayer and the blessing of food. Let us also be sensitive to opportunities to explain why we are really celebrating the season.
“But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,” 1 Peter 3:15
And as we reach the last few days before Christmas, and our schedules and days become all the more frazzled, let us not lose focus and continue to live like Jesus!
Like the One whose birthday we are celebrating, let us be generous, unhurried, welcoming, peace-loving, non-judgmental and forgiving to those we will encounter. Let us bring back the focus to Jesus as we celebrate and rejoice this season of peace, hope and joy!
“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” Hebrews 10:24-25
Thank you for reading through our devotional today. I invite you to ponder on 1 Peter 3:13-16 to dig deeper on today’s topic.
Reflection Question: Do you get shy when asked to lead the prayer during parties or blessing of food? What keeps you from being courageous?
Conversation with the Lord: Heavenly Father, give me the confidence and grace to lead people to you even through simple means like leading the prayer during celebrations. I want people to know that you are the real reason for this season. Amen.
