Daily devotional: Common temptation

When the temptation to compare ourselves with others comes to us, may we choose to remember that our Heavenly Father loves us individually, equally, and in unique ways. As an all-knowing God, He is in the best position to know what we truly need, when we absolutely need it, and what’s best for us.

1 Thessalonians 4:11-12
1 Thessalonians 4:11-12

“For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every foul practice” James 3:16

May we remember that while He wants to make us happy, He has a great father’s heart to prioritize our character development and the deepening of our faith. In His great love for us He knows that only through Christ-like character and deeply anchored faith could we possess the peace of mind and joy that is not anchored in situations. That only through faith and character could we experience the abundant life He has died for us to live.

“And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” 2 Corinthians 9:8

May we choose to take our minds off other people’s business and blessings, and choose to focus on the Heavenly Father and His perfect, precious, and personally chosen gifts for us.

“that you also aspire to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you, that you may walk properly toward those who are outside, and that you may lack nothing.” 1 Thessalonians 4:11-12

Thank you for reading through our devotional today. I invite you to ponder on Romans 12:3 and Exodus 20:17 to dig deeper on today’s topic.

Reflection Question: What do you do when the struggle to compare your blessings with others hits you? How does knowing that God knows the best gifts to give us assure you that you will have everything that’s best for you in His good time?

Conversation with the Lord: Heavenly Father, thank you for allowing me to relish in Your loving presence. May you give me the grace and confidence to point others
