When making both life-changing and day-to-day decisions, it is not
enough to just persistently pray for God’s guidance. We have to allow
Him to respond to us. And we hear his response whenever we
intentionally set aside time to read the Bible and meditate on His
words.
When we make it a habit to read scriptures everyday and take the time
to think what could God be telling us through that story, psalm,
proverb, or parable, we give God the chance to clearly speak to us.
“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for
reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the
man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy
3:16-17
When we seek His word, and make it our guide in every choice that we
make, we take hold of God’s promise to provide us the wisdom we need
to live the abundant life He has planned for us. The Book of James
says:
“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously
to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” James 1:5
And if we feel intimidated as to how to start our daily bible reading
journey, we can start by getting a daily devotional book. We can
reflect on the day’s anchor verse and how we can it apply it in our
current situation.
We can also download a bible reading plan or app and follow the
suggested bible reading for the day. We can also just simply start by
reading any of the four Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke or John) or a New
Testament Epistle like that of James.
If we can find the time to scroll away on Social Media, we should all
the more have time to consult the Book that has all the answers to
every question we may have about living our lives.
“Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” Psalm 119:105
Thank you for reading through our devotional today. I invite you to
ponder on Colossians 3:16 and Isaiah 40:8 to dig deeper on today’s
topic.
Reflection Question: How do you seek God’s guidance in making
decisions, especially those that are major or life changing? Do you
give Him a chance to respond to your request for wisdom?
Conversation with the Lord: Heavenly Father, thank you that you gave
us access to your wisdom and how best to live our lives. Thank you
that we have Your Word to consult and hold on to. Give us the grace
and wisdom to make it our guiding light, and so we can apply it in our
day-to-day lives. Amen.
