Whenever we feel like giving up on our marriage, our teenager, our job, a friendship, or a good habit that does not seem to bear fruit, let’s stop and think of Jesus. The One who never gave up on us.
The Lord, who relentlessly called us to Him despite our unworthiness, has overlooked our faults, loved us unconditionally, and showed us compassion no matter what. As His followers, He encourages us to show the same love.
“Therefore do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised.” Hebrews 10:35-36
Our Savior’s heart was big enough to give us multiple chances each time we fail. And so whenever we feel like we are at the end of our rope, let’s tap into the strength and courage that He has blessed us with.
With His sufficient grace we will have the patience to endure parenting challenges, and overcome trials in our relationships. We will have the strength to persevere to do what’s right and the faith to keep on hoping. He allowed us to sustain heartaches so we could increase our capacity to forgive.
“Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength.” Isaiah 40:28-29
Our God has empowered us, and has set for us the best example through Jesus Christ. Let us not give up on doing what’s right, focusing on what’s good, and hoping for the best.
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Galatians 6:9 Â
Thank you for reading through our devotional today. I invite you to ponder on Hebrews 12:2-4 and James 1:2-4 to dig deeper on today’s topic.
Reflection Question: What keeps you from giving up? What pushes you to end things? How will Jesus’ promises to sustain you, and strengthen you make a difference on your decision to keep on going or end things?
Conversation with the Lord: Heavenly Father thank you for your faithfulness and sufficient grace that empowers us to do your will and hold on to things you have called us into doing. May you grant us the grace to remain hopeful and spiritually strong. Amen.Â
