Daily devotional: His Battle

Being treated  unfairly does not in any way give us an excuse to mirror the same behavior to the person who offended us. It likewise does not give us the right to wear the trauma around as a badge, and
thoughtlessly inflict the same treatment on those around us.

Exodus 14:14
Exodus 14:14

The Lord calls us to treat people the way we want to be treated. So on our end, no matter how hurt or insulted we may have felt, we should choose to obey God.

“Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. “ Colossians 3:12-13

And as we trust Him enough to obey His word, we should also remain hopeful that just as He promised — He will avenge us.

“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” Exodus 14:14

Thank you for reading through our devotional today. I invite you to ponder on Romans 12:17-21 to dig deeper on today’s topic.

Reflection Question: How do you resist the urge to fight back when faced with harsh or unfair treatment? How does knowing that God will avenge you calm you down?

Conversation with the Lord: Heavenly Father, thank you for assuring us that in you we will attain justice. May you give us the grace to be nice to people who hurt us, and have a forgiving heart. Amen.
