Daily devotional: Graciousness

As we go through life’s storms, may we give ourselves the grace to be vulnerable. Allow ourselves to feel tired and consequently get some rest. Cry out and allow our tears to cleanse our hearts, and make our vision clearer.

Proverbs 17:17
Proverbs 17:17

To lean on God, and choose to just stay in His embrace. To envelop ourselves with His words and promises for as long as we need to. To nourish our parched souls with God’s healing presence until we can function and thrive once more.

“For He satisfies the longing soul, and the hungry soul He fills with good things.” Psalm 107:9

As we try to regain our stance after hitting rock bottom, let us not be too quick to brush off what has happened. Reflecting on it may just be the grace God has poured out on us to keep us from getting into a darker valley, a deeper pit.

Let us give ourselves time to feel the sorrow, and cry out to God instead of denying it. To stay quiet to the outside world, as long as we need to. Until we can pick up our bearings.

We do not owe anyone the raw details of the most tender seasons of our life just so we could receive comfort and consolation. Genuinely compassionate people do not need to know our whole story for them to reach out. Sincere ones will offer support and encouragement whether we choose to open up or not.

“A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity.” Proverbs 17:17

Let us continue casting our cares to the Lord, as we go through our valleys. Let us never cease praying, and believing that our God is the Heavenly Father who sees us, and sustains us.

Thank you for reading through our devotional today. I invite you to ponder on Proverbs 27:6 and Mark 6:31  to dig deeper on today’s topic.

Reflection Question: Do you struggle to take care of yourselves when your life implodes? How do you handle rough seasons, and how is your relationship with the Lord during these times?

Conversation with the Lord: Heavenly Father, thank you that we can count on you during both good times and bad. Thank you for giving us the grace to rest and recover. For sustaining us during our trying times. Amen.
