Daily devotional: Not about us

It is never about our character, our past, our failures, nor our vicious sin cycle and brokenness. It is all about His mercy, graciousness, and willingness to take us back again.

Our Savior will never ever turn us away when we come to Him with a heart sincerely sorry for all the sins we have committed. He will not turn His back on us when we tell Him how much we regret the bad choices we have made. For the sinful lifestyle we have lived.

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9

He does not only promise to cleanse and redeem us. He vows to restore our lives and make us brand new. That He will hold our hands through the consequences we may have to face, and to relent from punishment.

“Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,” Acts 3:19

Thank you for reading through our devotional today. I invite you to ponder on 2 Peter 3:9 and Psalm 51:7-12,17 to dig deeper on today’s topic.

Reflection Question: Have you been postponing the recommitment of your life to the Lord? Have you been waiting to stop that sinful habit before totally coming back to Him? What will convince you that He does not think of you that way and that you can come to Him and He will cleanse you?

Conversation with the Lord: Heavenly Father, thank you for your mercy and graciousness. For being the Merciful Father that you are who does not grow tired of calling us back to you. Thank you for calling us to
return to the path you have planned for us, so we could live the life of righteousness and peace. Amen.
