Daily devotional: Curated Emotions

God does not expect us to have it altogether. Our God never told us to hide our sorrows, mask our grief, hide our pain, and curate our emotions. He calls us to bring our hurts, our struggles, and our pains to Him.

Psalm 34:18
Psalm 34:18

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

He longs to comfort us. He longs for us to lean on to Him. Let us cling on to His presence by seeking Him in prayer, holding on to His words, and putting our faith in His character. May our hearts count on his steadfast love, graciousness, might and mercy, amid the inevitable storms in our lives.

“Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word.” 2 Thessalonians 2:16–17

Our God is a kind and compassionate Father, that even if we forget How good He is, He does not take it against us. Instead He bear-hugs us into His tight embrace until our own storms have passed.

Thank you for reading through our devotional today. I invite you to ponder on  Isaiah 40:28–31 and Psalm 34:18 to dig deeper on today’s topic.

Reflection Question: When was the last time you’ve poured your heart out before the Lord? What is keeping you from fully leaning on to Him?

Conversation with the Lord: Lord Jesus Christ, thank you that you call us to come to You when we are overwhelmed with grief and emotions. Give us the confidence to come to you and seek your help and presence as we go through our emotional lows. Amen.
