We have real contentment once we know by heart that we have everything
we need for the life our God has assigned for us to live. It is when
we stop comparing our lives with others. When we are genuinely happy
for what other people have and achieve.
“Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what
you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I
forsake you.” Hebrew 13:5
It is when we rest in the assurance that God’s will would not bring us
to places where His sufficient grace could not sustain us. When our
hope remains alive and we continue to worship Him even if we are in
the darkest and driest of seasons.
“Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines,
the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock
be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls, yet I
will rejoice in the LORD; I will take joy in the God of my salvation.”
Habakkuk 3:17-18
It is in experiencing the peace and joy that is not dependent on
circumstances but is fully anchored in God’s faithful promises.
Thank you for reading through our devotional today. I invite you to ponder on
1 Timothy 6:6-10 and 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 to dig deeper on today’s topic.
Reflection Question: Are you still in the pursuit of contentment? How
does knowing that only Jesus can fill your every need, calm your soul?
Conversation with the Lord: Lord Jesus Christ, thank you that in you,
I can be satisfied. Thank you and may you give me the grace to be
fully content in you alone. Amen.
