Everyday, the Lord invites us to seek Him first before diving into our tasks, our chores, our responsibilities. He calls us to lay it all up to Him — our cares, our worries, our struggles, so that He could help us carry everything the whole day through.
“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Matthew 6:33
Our God does not watch us on high while sitting on His throne. He comes down to us and meets us where we are. He does not want us to be overwhelmed.
He never called us to a life that we could not enjoy. He never wanted us to live a frantic, anxiety-ridden existence. And so He gives us the opportunity to come to Him, so He can be with us throughout the day.
He wants to guide our choices, so He can watch us thrive, and keep us from fully stumbling down.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6
Our Heavenly Father is not a distant parent. He can do more than any hands-on dad can do, because He is nearer to us than our next breath. We can whisper to Him or we can call Him loudly, and He will hear us either way. His ears are so attuned to us that even our soundless sighs are audible to Him.
“For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayer. But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.” 1 Peter 3:12
So when we call on Him, we can be sure He will respond. He may not give us what we want right away. He may make us wait, or He may not take us out of our trouble in a snap. But one thing’s for sure, He
will be with us and His good plans will always, always work out for our own good!
We serve a good God, we are children of the King of Kings. We need not fear. All we need is to be humble and fully dependent on Him.
Thank you for reading through our devotional today. I invite you to ponder on Psalm 121 to dig deeper on today’s topic.
