One of the best ways to express our love is through humble service. Day-to-day home chores done lovingly or a job efficiently completed at work may go unnoticed by those we serve, but it will never escape the eyes of the one who called us to it. Just as He came to serve, He also calls those who believe in Him to serve selflessly like He did.
“For God is not unjust so as to overlook your work and the love that you have shown for his name in serving the saints, as you still do.” Hebrews 6:10
And when we serve others without grumbling and complaining, our Heavenly Father sees everything we do as our form of worship. Even more when we joyfully serve without expecting anything in return.
So no matter how small the task, and though no one says “thanks,” we can rest assured that our loving Savior, Jesus Christ, smiles at us. He truly delights when we take to heart His invitation for us to walk in His ways.
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Galatians 6:9
Thank you for reading through our devotional today. I invite you to ponder on Colossians 3:23-24 to dig deeper on today’s topic.
Reflection Question: When was the last time you felt like your efforts are futile and that the work you do is nothing in the eyes of others? How do you respond when someone fails to thank you for your service? How might you respond to God’s call to carry on, and just allow Him to recognize you for the work that you do?
Conversation with the Lord: Heavenly Father, thank you that you see every selfless service that I render. Thank you that to you, it means a lot. Please strengthen me day after day so that I can continue serving others just as you have called me to do.
