Daily devotional: The Assignment

We do not have to show up to every battle, every agrument we are invited to. Instead, may we choose to keep ourselves busy doing the work God has assigned us to do.

1 Peter 3:9
1 Peter 3:9

Brushing it off

And as we receive insults, bashing, and even shaming, may we choose to just shake these off. Choose to move forward to what we have been called to do.  We ought to follow the Lord’s example of staying focused on the mission. Not letting insults, taunting, and even betrayal keep Him from doing the will of the Father.

“Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.” 1 Peter 3:9

Not engaging

We are not obliged to listen, talk back, rebut, fight, and join each battle we are  being coaxed to join. When we are focused on the Lord we can continue living in His peace, which is His will for us.

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10

Thank you for reading our devotional today. Kindly read Matthew 5:34-38 for a deeper dive into our topic.

Reflection Question:  Are you emotionally exhausted right now with people around you seeming to pick a fight? How can choosing life, peace, and the God’s truth, bring healing to your soul, tired from all the emotions whirring around you?

Conversation with the Lord: Heavenly Father, thank you that in you I can be sure I am seen, heard, and understood. Thank you that you are my redeemer and vindicator. Help me to continue holding on to you my Lord especially when life becomes too emotionally exhausting. Amen.
