Daily devotion: Leaving a Great Legacy

We do not get to leave a legacy of faith through our words. We leave a Godly legacy through our day-to-day decisions, and by living a God-honoring life even when it is inconvenient, uncomfortable, or even
emotionally painful.

Psalm 103:17
Psalm 103:17

And as our own children witness how we live our lives, they too, will decide to love and worship the God that we serve and hold dear.

And from there, they will decide to pass on to their own children, the same values and Godly legacy we aimed to leave with them.

“Praise the LORD! Blessed is the man who fears the LORD,
who delights greatly in His commandments. His descendants will be mighty on earth; the generation of the upright will be blessed.” Psalm 112:1-2.

Louder than words

Indeed, actions speak louder than words, especially when it comes to leaving a legacy of faith. Because when our children see us living what we profess they get to personally see and experience the love of
Jesus through us.

And as we glorify the Lord through our day to day actions and choices, we get to transmit to the next generation, a legacy of faith that loves God above all, and abides in Jesus through life.

“And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.” Deuteronomy 6:6-7

Thank you for reading our devotional today. Kindly read 2 Timothy 1:5 and Psalm 78:4 for a deeper dive into our topic.

Reflection Question: Do you wonder about the best way to inculcate Gospel values to your children. How can the legacy of faith in the family of Timothy inspire you to endeavor in leaving a Godly legacy to
your own children?

Conversation with the Lord:  Heavenly Father thank you that when we follow you sincerely, we get to encourage our children to love you as well in the process. Help me stay faithful to the parenting mission
you have granted me Lord, and give me the confidence to continue drawing strength from you. Amen.
