The post Where to buy Carrier Oils in the Philippines appeared first on Happy Pinay Mommy.
]]>If you are looking for stores or shops to order carrier oils in the Philippines for your DIY Essential Oil Blends and Recipes then this post is for you.
I have compiled here a list of stores and shops – both online and physical – that sell carrier oils in the Philippines. For those who are still exploring essential oils, carrier oils play an important role in reaping the benefits of essential oils for our health and well being. This is because Carrier Oils are the most common “vehicle” used to dilute essential oils since EOs are very potent and would need to be diluted. Other raw materials commonly used to dilute essential oils include Witch Hazel, Shea Butter, unscented lotions, Aloe Vera Gel and more.
Since I am no expert in this subject, let me quote Aroma Web’s information about carrier oils: “If applied to the skin undiluted, essential oils, absolutes, CO2s and other concentrated aromatics can cause severe irritation, sensitization, redness or burning or other reactions in some individuals. Carrier oils are used to dilute essential and other oils prior to topical application. The term carrier oil is derived from their purpose in carrying the essential oil onto the skin. Aloe vera gel and unscented body lotion are also commonly used as “carriers.” For the scope of this article, however, we will be focusing upon the use of natural vegetable oils as carriers.” Read Aromaweb’s full article here.
Going back to our article on where to buy carrier oils, here are—
1. Supermarkets – Yes you’ve read it right, big groceries usually sell carrier oils, like Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Sunflower Oil and even Grapeseed Oil. These carrier oils though are not found solely in the beauty or cosmetics aisle, as these oils are displayed in the cooking oil aisle as well.
The cosmetic aisle usually carries sunflower oil, and virgin coconut oil like this which I saw at Rustan’s Supermarket. The Sunflower Oil costs P299.00 per 100ml. the smaller version at 50ml meantime costs P174.70. This Grapeseed Oil on the other hand, I have found in the cooking oil section of S & R.
2. Pharmacies – Usually, pharmacies like Watson’s and Mercury Drug carry Virgin Coconut Oil of different brands, as well as Sunflower Oil. The brand Dr. VCO costs P375.00 for 250ml.
3. Casa de Lorenzo – Yes this company does not only distill local essential oils, and castile soaps. They also manufacture carrier oils. As of last check they sell in 250 ml. quantities and on a per liter basis. They have Virgin Coconut Oil, Olive Oil, Grapeseed Oil and Avocado Oil. Here’s a link to their website.

6. Human Heart Nature – Both online and Physical store of HHN, plus its numerous distributors (which include supermarkets) sell their Sunflower oil which can be used as a carrier oil for essential oil blends.
7. Fractionated Coconut Oil Philippines – If you are looking for pure Fractionated Coconut Oil (meaning the Coconut Oil that won’t make you smell like ricecakes or any pinoy or Asian dessert!) then order from this online store! They sell FCOs at 150 ml. 500 ml. and one Liter, with prices starting at P300.00 for 150 ml. Place your orders here.
8. Pro-Planet Essential Oils –– They sell FDA approved Virgin Coconut Oil at P280.00/liter. Their VCO ic cold-pressed too so it is perfect for your essential oil blends. Also, this online merchane sells Certified Organic Neem Seed Oil which works as a natural pesticide. So if you are looking for a chemical-free solution to your insect and pest problems, check out their online store here.
If you are a newbie and would like to order oils directly from your EO company of choice, then check out their selections of carrier oils as well. Some may even be bundled into their special sets and packages.

]]>If you are looking for essential oil accessories in the Philippines, then this article is for you. My 2015 write-up on where to buy essential oils continues to be one of my blog’s top posts, hence I am writing this post.
I will be enumerating here the various online shops and physical stores where you can buy the tools for your essential oil DIY projects.

The list that I will be sharing with you are those that I have personally tried, those that are tried and recommended by people I know. But as in anything, it pays to do your own research on the lowest prices, and best customer experience.
So here’s the list of —

5. The Medical Supplies Store in Bambang – Where else can you find accessories that are at bagsak-presyo levels other than this strip of medical supplies stores fronting PGH and near DOH? Yes I have mentioned this place several times in my past entries like where to buy scrub suits, as well as where to buy affordable but efficient nebulizers. Yes you can find medical grade droppers, graduated cylinders, vials, beakers, glass stirrers and more that will help you channel your inner “oilbularyo.”

]]>With the growing number of essential oils enthusiasts in the country, the demand for an efficient ultrasonic essential oil diffusers continue to grow.
Fortunately good quality diffusers are available to us here in the country, and those that are sold abroad can be easily shipped here, taking out the guesswork as to where to buy diffusers in Manila.
For those who are still on the lookout for a diffuser in the Philippines here’s a list of online and physical stores —
1.Direct to the Manufacturer — Young living, Plant Therapy, and Eden’s Garden all have their own line of diffusers that they can ship either via USPS, through a Cargo Forwarder, or Direct to your doorstep. In my experience, this is my most recommended route (second to buying these specific brands from trusted local sellers), because these are the diffusers that work great granting you follow the capacity for the space/room measurement and of course number of EO drops to use.
2. Lazada — Has tons of choices of diffusers, some of which are on sale. They do have the bigger ones for the home or office like this Woodgrain Ultrasonic Diffuser which as of publication time is on more than 60% Off at just P1194.00, you can check it out here.

Lazada also carries small ones which are USB-powered like this Mini Portable Diffuser, and is on sale here at P575.60. It is ideal for the office. They also have some that can be used in vehicles like this Portable Car USB Essential Oil Diffuser, which is on sale at 50% off as of publication time and now costs P312.00, get it here. It is available in four colors, blue, yellow, green and pink.
Some of the diffusers in Lazada’s lineup have a four-in-one feature — a diffuser, humidifier, ionizer and air purifier rolled into one like this Ultrasonic Aroma Air Humidifier Oil Diffuser Mist Maker which is on sale at P1990.00 here. The above-mentioned diffusers are all available on a cash on delivery basis, and can be shipped nationwide.
2. S&R– If you want to physically check out diffusers before buying then head over to S&R. They have a couple of choices there. Last time I checked, I found one for a little over P3,000.00

5. Miniso – They have the smaller, portable ones at P899.00 if I’m not mistaken. You may want to check it out.
6. Department Stores — You may also want to check out the home section of your favorite department store for aromatherapy diffusers. Rustan’s, Robinsons’ and SM both sell diffusers which can use for essential oils in the Philippines.
7. UPDATED: Organic Aromas — Want an awesome looking diffuser that will surely be a conversational piece in your home? Order some from organic aromas! They ship their waterless diffusers here in the Philippines, and so far it has been receiving great feedback from our local oily community. Most of the diffusers as of updating of this post is at the 90 USD levels in terms of cost. Here’s a link to their website.

Most EO users though buy EO Diffusers online through their favorite Essential Oils Company. Young Living for instance has their specific line of ultrasonic diffusers. Others buy from Amazon or Ebay.

]]>The post Baptismal Party Souvenir Ideas appeared first on Happy Pinay Mommy.
]]>One of the concerns of most parents who are about to have their baby christened is the Baptismal Souvenirs that they will give away to their guests.
There are tons of ideas out there, and it can get overwhelming really. There are a lot of considerations in choosing for Baptismal souvenirs, and apart from matching the theme, it should of course fit the budget, and for me – it should be practical. Practical in a sense that it would not just get tossed by the guests as soon as they come home from your party.
After attending too many binyag and dedication parties in the Philippines, and seeing a lot of possible souvenir items out there, here are some of my suggested –
1.Succulents – Giving out succulents is somewhat cool, and of course, can be useful as a plant décor in your guest’s home or office. It is not so expensive too as it can go as low as P40.00 each in Dangwa. For those who may not have the time to brave the traffic to that part of Manila, then it may be best to just order online – after all some stores can customize a greeting and a label for each pot. Check out my past post on this to get the list of online and physical stores that sell succulents for giveaways. Below meanwhile is a photo of one of the souvenirs that Go Green Giveaways supply to their clients. Check out their FB Shop here.
2. Baby Cologne Spray – This is fun and fab especially when nicely packaged like this one from Provence Fragrances. Of course clients get to choose the scent and according to Provence Fragrances, their clients often choose kiddie scents for kid-related events such as baptism and first and seventh birthdays. The kiddie scents match the sticker label which has a theme/design related to kids, price range is usually around P40.00 to P60.00 per bottle. Here is a link to their FB Shop.
3. Scented candles on a jar or tin — These are welcome gifts for me as it is always relaxing to light up a candle during stressful days. Check out Party Favors PH’s FB shop here.
(Post continued below)
===========================================================
=========================================
4. Hand sanitizers — talk about useful stuff, this one will surely be used up by your guests especially if you were able to choose a generic clean scent that they will like. You can do a DIY hand sanitizer here, or go the hassle-free route and order from various suppliers out there like The Gift Corner. The gift corner can feature the name of your child and then the date of his christening in front, and then some of his stats at the back portion of the bottle. Price range is at P25.00 to P40.00 per piece with a minimum order of 30 pieces. Clients have five scents to choose from and they can request for the color of the gel that will be used for the sanitizer. Check out their FB Page here.
5. Kiddie stool — it may be too big for your guests to lug around but hey most parents say they have been able to use it at home as well — kiddie stools or stools for home service manicuristas (haha very titas of manila). One of the highly recommended suppliers is Handicrafts Atbp you may check out their FB Shop here. I canvassed from different stores and the price range usually for mini stools is at around P90.00 to P95.00 apiece and then a bigger kiddie stool at around P185.00 per piece.
6. Anything on a mason jar — yes, the mason jar is useful already to begin with now put in something sweet and yummy, then that will be a great giveaway to bring home. Some put candies, color coordinated jellies or mallows, cookies or what have yous in the jar and tie it up with a cool ribbon and piece of cloth to match the event’s color motif. Check out my past post on where to buy mason jars and candies for candy buffet if and when you will allow yourself to be bitten by the DIY bug. Do not forget to find ribbons in this past post too!
7. Personalized Mini Pillows — you can always give out pillows to your guests. These are usually useful in the car or even in the home. Just be mindful of the design so it is important to commission a supplier who can create that fab token for your guests. Try Mommy Grace of Imprints. Price range is at P90.00 to P150.00 depending on the design.
8. Rosary or Rosary Bracelet— I have attended a lot of catholic christening parties that give out rosaries as souvenirs. This one from Party Favors PH looks lovely.
If you want a nice rosary bracelet, then you may want to check this out from E Clay Souvenirs and Accessories.
9. Polymer Clay Refrigerator Magnets— are cute and functional, and would definitely be a happy souvenir to take home coming from a party. Look at these adorable magnet giveaways from E Clay Souvenirs and Accessories Price range is at P55.00 to P200.00 per piece depending on the complexity of the design. Check out their FB Shop here.
So, there you have it. I will be updating this post as I come across more binyag party souvenir ideas. If you have the time, hope you could drop by my Facebook page and hit the like button, so you can receive regular updates from Happypinaymommy.com direct on your newsfeed.

]]>Moms, especially those that cloth diaper their little ones usually worry about the presence of ants during ant season – which in the Philippines, happens to be almost all year round.
And while there are a lot of insecticide and spray solutions that can address this concern, not all are safe to be used in the home, especially when there are babies around.
I have rounded up some baby safe and natural ways to get rid of ants. Some are using a DIY Solution, some homemade sprays, and some are meant to prevent them from inside the home – especially on our baby’s cloth diaper stash! So here are:

If all else fails, and you would really want a strong and effective ant infestation solution without using really heavy chemicals then you might want to give Borax a try. Again borax is poisonous and should be kept out of children’s reach. Here in our country, Borax can be purchased from local hardwares (not ace, not handyman, and not True Value, but your neighborhood hardware). In the recipe that it shared, DIY Hangout says all you need is sugar, borax, warm water, cotton balls, and shallow containers. Of course you will need to KEEP THE CONTAINERS OUT OF CHILDREN’S REACH, but this promises to be an effective solution. Check out the step-by-step procedures here.
So there you have it, I am sure there are other Natural and Baby Safe ways to get rid of ants. I will be updating this post as soon as I learn more.

]]>The post Where to buy Supplies for DIY Candy Buffets in the Philippines appeared first on Happy Pinay Mommy.
]]>More and more moms are becoming practical nowadays that they try DIY projects for their children’s stuff (like cloth diapers, wipes, accessories), and even supplies like Fabcons – I wrote about it here, and even detergents etc.
Parties of course are a huge expense especially if your family is the type to hold big events. A cost-efficient method is to resort on DIY for some aspects of the party – or for more adventurous and crafty mommies – DIY the whole party itself.
I earlier wrote about where to find DIY Party Supplies (read it here), and I have monitored that it is one of my widely read posts. Now I am giving you a more specific blog entry that deals with one dainty, fun, and yummy aspect of any family event – The Candy Buffet!
So for mommies out there who are doing a DIY on their little tot’s candy buffet, here is –
1. S & R – S & R stores can provide your needs for chocolates and sweets. Here you can find big packs of imported chocolates, candies, and gummy stuff kids usually like. Check out their website here for their branches. If you are not a member, you can ask any member-friend to tag you along!
2. Chocolate Lovers – Where else can you find all those sweet and yummy treats sans the packaging that you will not need but at Chocolate Lovers? They have a branch in Cubao, for inquiries and directions to the store here is a link to their website.
(Post continued below)
====================================================================
===========================================================
3. Sweet Craft – If you live near the Shaw Boulevard area then go to Sweet Craft, it is near Dansalan Gardens and yes you can find a lot of baking needs, as well as candies and sweets for your candy buffet. Here’s their FB Page.
4. Online and Brick-and-Mortar Baking Supplies Stores – If you have a baking supplies store in your neighborhood, then better check it out because they will be selling those sweets you can readily put on your candy jars! They also have the gummy jellies, candy coated chocolates, the works basically. They will most likely have online shops to like Bakers’ Basket Baking Supplies (apart from the sweets they have all those dainty items and decors that you will need), Little MJ Baking and Party Supplies (also for those dainty stuff for the candy buffet).
5. Divisoria – Well you have to be discerning about this if and when you will decide to source chocolates and sweets here – as you know there are unscrupulous sellers that may sell counterfeit candies and chocolates, or even expired goods. I am not saying this is the case in all of the stores in the area, but we better be mindful about all these especially since candy buffets attract children the most. What I can tell you though is that you can get supplies for the candy buffet table here like the jars, decorations, liners and the like. Special mention for the famous Tabora Street, and Lucky Chinatown Mall.

7. Department Stores – You will be surprised because tiered plates and nice jars and other stuff you may use in your candy spread are also available in your nearest department stores. Just be more imaginative! Department stores you ay want to check out include Robinson’s Department Store Galleria Branch, SM Makati, and Landmark Makati.

]]>If you are thinking of making your daughter a headband, a bow or hair accessory — or probably becoming a WAHM and start an online business selling headbands then this post is for you.
I have compiled a list of places where you can buy materials for DIY headbands and hair accessories in the Philippines.
Some may be physical shops which is ideal for those who are thinking of selling their finished products, while some in the list are online — perfect for crafty mamas who are not out to buy a lot.
1. Divisoria — this famous shopping landmark is home to stores and stalls after stalls of materials for DIY headband and hair accessory supplies and materials. Tabora street in particular has a lot of supplies for you to choose from (i have featured this street in my posts about mason jars, DIY Cloth Diaper Sewing Supplies, Fabrics, knitting and crocheting supplies, among others). Add to that the sewing supplies and stalls along Ilaya and you are in crafters’ heaven!
2. Quiapo — the first time my friend J brought me over at Wellmanson in Quiapo, i went dizzy over the many, many DIY and craft materials to choose from at absurdly low prices! Check out this craft hub and you will never regret. Of course do not forget to drop by the Quiapo church first and visit the Nazareno

3. Malls — like what i have mentioned in my post regarding DIY knitting and crocheting supplies, some major malls also have craft shops that you may want to check out. Start with the department stores first — for example in SM Makati they have a sewing section and usually they have ribbons, laces and bows in there. Other stores you may want to check out are Carolina’s Lace shoppe — they have branches in Glorietta and SM Megamall (plus a couple of other branches).
4. Online stores — There are plenty of online stores that sell materials for headbands and hair accessories. They include:

]]>Parties are fun, but it could be very expensive. And this is why most moms who would like to save up on their children’s parties would want to try the DIY or Do-it-yourself route in some (or all) aspects of the party they are throwing.
There are many places where you could buy DIY Party Supplies in the Philippines. In Manila for instance, Divisoria is the most common bagsakan area where you really could buy everything you would have wanted for your DIY Party in Manila at a super cheap cost.
But not all moms have the time and energy to trek to Divi. So for those moms this post is for you.

]]>The post How to Make Homemade DIY Fabric Conditioner in the Philippines appeared first on Happy Pinay Mommy.
]]>My regular grocery shopping list usually comes with a big pouch of my family’s favorite fabric softener. Lately though I want to venture on making my own homemade version, not only to save on costs, but also to be more gentle on our trusty washing machine.
You see, according to Engr. Google, the black specs that I recently discovered in the bottom of the WM drum can be attributed to excessive fabcon use. I was able to remedy the situation by running a hot soak, with some vinegar solution. I figured, if we will be able to use more natural ingredients, the problem may no longer recur.
You see, for Shobs’ diapers, we only use vinegar as softener when the inserts get kind of stiff. For the kids’ clothes we hardly use any. But the mister and I long for soft and mild smelling clothes, hence the use of fabcon.
Anyway, as always, I’ll be sharing with you what I have researched on how to make homemade fabcon.
1. Vinegar-Based. Ladies who are kind of apprehensive about using vinegar, listen up. The smell evaporates after 15-20 minutes and will just leave your clothes smelling fresh. This recipe, meantime, has an improved scent because you will be using the essential oil of your choice. Here are the ingredients: Three Cups of White Vinegar, half a cup of baking soda (baking SODA not BAKING POWDER), and about 10 drops of your favorite essential oil scent – you can buy it here, in the scent that you like. If you however want a pure, strong essential oil, then you may want to try this line, which you can buy here.

===================================================================
2. Super Cheap. If you do not want to spend anything anymore and just want to source ingredients from your own home, then this is the recipe for you. It just uses hair conditioner, white vinegar, and water. Get the directions here as shared by one of my favorite homemaking websites, One Good Thing by Jillee.
3. Simple and Neat. This one is fairly easy, just substitute Epsom salt with our usual rock salt. Again, you can get your essential oils here. Check out the procedure as posted at Everyday Roots here.
So there you have it. Hope you could indulge your inner DIY Diva soon and try out these homemade fabric conditioner recipes.

]]>The APEC summit paved the way for an instant school vacation for the kids, and if you are running out of ideas on what to do with your children, then why not get out of the house and play street games?
You can teach your kids childhood games like piko, or even tumbang preso. You can even draw in a safe concrete area if you have one in your home.
A good material to have on hand are sidewalk chalks. And the good news is, you do not have to go to a book store to buy one, You can do one yourself and again, hit two birds in one stone. Making it is already a great activity with the kids, plus once you have the finished product, you can give it to your kids for them to draw with.

Achi and I have been exploring a lot of bubble recipes, from the simple Gumamela me and my playmates made during our childhood, to the more modern ones that are “copycat recipes” of those being sold at the toy stores. Anyway I made sure to reco recipes with ingredients that are locally available.

The good thing here is that we do not have to buy clay for the kids all the time. We can actually make one with them, and let them play with it. So basically it is like shooting two birds with one stone!

]]>The post Where to Buy Sewing Machines in the Philippines appeared first on Happy Pinay Mommy.
]]>If you now want to take your DIY-ing to a whole new level and have decided to buy a sewing machine then this post is for you. I recently came up with a series of posts on where to buy sewing supplies as well as fabrics for your cloth diapering DIY project, you may want to check them out here.
This time, I have compiled a list of places where you could buy sewing machines in the Philippines, both online and brick and mortar stores. This is close to my heart since my mom is an avid sewing enthusiast and she has a couple of machines in our home, mostly singer ones. She has a nice sewing machine like this, a serger (which she calls edging machine — whatever that means), and she has a vintage one too.
1. Direct to Manufacturer/Importer – popular brands in the country are SINGER and BROTHER and they have their own outlets. Singer has stores in Abad Santos, Manila; Makati City, and Cebu CIty. Brother has a showroom in Marajo Tower in Bonifacio Global City. Ive been researching about Juki but all i saw are authorized resellers mostly for heavy duty sewing — which is not applicable to this post.
2. Lazada — If you do not want to get caught in heavy traffic while shopping, or want installment deals or pay upon delivery service then head on over at Lazada and choose a sewing machine there. You may want to get something like this or at least –-according to sewing experts that I know— those that are not too inexpensive if you want a good quality machine.
(Post Continued Below)
————
——————–
3. Appliance Stores — Automatic Center for instance always has a Brother Sewing Machine display so if you want to check out sewing machines in the mall this is the appliance store that you can go to. There are small Sewing Machines being sold in Ace Hardware branches, but i don’t think it is durable enough to last many sewing projects –sorry.
4. Port Area — if you are familiar with the port area, the old BIR building, or the Philippine Star Main office then you know this next location that i am referring to. This is the area where you can buy surplus sewing machines (they are actually across the Star’s office. Yes these aren’t air-conditioned stalls but you will have a lot of cheap machines to choose from). I think you can buy a Japan surplus sewing machine here for less than Php4,000.00 or something. Sewing Mamas Recommend Madam Zen’s Stall, i think she is pretty famous in there that you can just ask around where her pwesto is. The thing is most of the machines sold in the Port area do not come with user guides so for a beginner it may be difficult to use. Here is a link to the location.
5. Distributors/Resellers — yes, they usually supply industrial types of sewing machines but they sometimes do have household machines. Check out the website of Unixindustrial. If i understood it right they also sell second-hand sewing machines which they have reconditioned.
6. OLX — if you are OK with buying second-hand then OLX is your best bet. They have hundreds of used machines to choose from. Just take usual precautions on your online transactions.
7. UPDATED: Taytay Old Public Market — Thank you to one of our dear readers, Mommy Clarissa Ababan-Banez for informing us about the sewing machines that are for sale at the Taytay Old Public Market. According to Mommy Clarissa, most of the sewing machines there are for industrial use, but there are portable JUKI machines as well. In addition, Mommy Clarissa mentioned that some of the machines that are being sold there, some are second hand/refurbished. BUT unlike the ones that you can buy at the Pier, the second-hand and reconditioned machines over at the Old Taytay Public Market are all 220 Volts so you would not need a transformer anymore.
8. ANOTHER UPDATE: Sew Corner Manila — You can check out the many sewing machines being sold by this FB seller. Here is a link to her profile.
9. UPDATED: May 21, 2016: Sewing Needs by ol4uaccessewrize — this FB store does not only sell cloth diaper sewing supplies, it also sells sewing machines! well i dont know if they regularly sell SMs on their site but last time i checked they have a serger for sale. Here’s a link to their FB Page.
10. UPDATED: May 21, 2016: Craft Destash PH — Well technically this is not an online store but a B/S/T group where you can find individual sellers who are selling their personal craft items as part of a de-stash. You can find sewing machines here too! Join the group here.
So there you have it. I hope I have given you an idea on where you could buy sewing machines in the Philippines. I highly recommend this e-book on “How To Make (All-In-One, One-Size-Fits-Most) Cloth Diapers: Cover your baby’s bum in style with this step-by-step photo guide for fabulous, eco-friendly diapers” which you may buy here. The kindle version is really affordable, so you may want to buy one. Incidentally they also have a paperback version, which you may wanna check out here.
