As we never fail to ask for His protection when we travel, His
guidance whenever we make decisions, and His provisions for both our
small and big needs, may we not forget to thank Him soon after we
receive what we have prayed for.
May we not forget to praise His name as He continues to manifest His
presence in our lives. And may we choose to focus on the truth that we
may not have everything we want, but He has never failed to provide
everything that we need. And as another month approaches to an end,
may we look back on the safety, protection, healing, provision,
guidance, and loving care He steadily provides.
“Give thanks to the Lord for he is good, his love endures forever.” Psalm 118:29
When we intentionally choose to give thanks for every blessing that
comes our way we open our eyes to the goodness of our Heavenly Father.
We get to approach life with joyfulness, and we are more likely to be
at peace and content.
“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances;
for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians
5:16-18
Our gratefulness will train our minds, and protect our hearts from
becoming weary of the inevitable struggles that daily life brings.
Gratitude also helps us overcome anxiousness, and even covetousness,
as it directs our minds to look at what we have and what remains,
rather than what we do not have, what we have lost, and what others
possess.
“Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on
him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught,
and you will overflow with thankfulness.” Colossians 2:7
And as we grow in the area of thankfulness, may we also not forget to
tell others about Jesus, and share our blessings with them!
Thank you for reading through our devotional today. I invite you to
ponder on Psalm 103:1-5Â to dig deeper on today’s topic.
Reflection Question: How do you prompt yourself to thank God? Are you
as thankful to Him as you would like to be?
Conversation with the Lord: Heavenly Father, there is so much in our
lives that we have to thank you for. We are nothing without you. And
so, please forgive us each time we forget to give thanks, and give us
the grace to abound in thanksgiving for your love and presence in our
lives. Amen.
