Daily devotional, March 6, 2024 Binoculars
"I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.”
Genesis 28:15
One of the most appreciated gifts of youngsters, at least in our family, is a pair of binoculars. And why not? It allows them to see at a long range. It gives them a better vision of what is out there, especially when in the outdoors like hiking a trail, or being on the beach.
As followers of Jesus, we should rest assured that with or without binoculars, our Sovereign God can see us. He can see everything that happens to us — both good and bad.
"But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love.”
Psalm 33:18
An eternal witness to both our struggles and wins, our God knows every circumstance we are in. So if we continue to abide in Him and walk in His ways, we should remain confident to claim His promises to see us through.
"My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be."
Psalm 139:15-16
When we feel alone, we should always remember that He is up there and He is aware and in control of what is happening. He can see everything that is being done to us, both positive and negative.
"For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is blameless toward him."
2 Chronicles 16:9
More importantly, He sees all our efforts to sanctify ourselves. Our Lord and Savior sees that we are trying our best to follow His commands and abide in Him. And that He sees how guilty we are when we fail, and how hard we try to get back on our feet whenever we make mistakes.
"By this we shall know that we are of the truth and reassure our heart before him; for whenever our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and he knows everything."
1 John 3:19-20
And while these truths should be comforting to us, it should also keep us in check. God can see everything that we do, and so whenever we blatantly disobey Him, He sees that. He also sees it when we are too deep into sin that we do not realize that we are no longer walking in His ways, and that we have severed our bond with Him. In his letter to the Hebrews, St. Paul the Apostle reminded this truth to the Early Christians:
"Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.”
Hebrews 4:13
So when we feel like we are up against the wall — either because of oppression from others or because of the sins we have committed, all we have to do is to draw near God. Our Heavenly King is so good that He wants us to fully depend on Him, and when we do not, He makes a way to call us back to His embrace.
Why not take a step today and draw closer by His feet? Tell Him all your worries and all your fears. And while His response to your supplications will be given at His own good time, He is always and will always be more than glad to listen to us. We worship Him and His glory when we come to Him with our heavy and repentant hearts and ask Him to heal our souls.
Thank you for reading through our devotional today. I invite you to ponder on Psalm 139 to dig deeper on today’s topic.
Reflection Question: Do you feel like God does not see you? What makes you feel this way?
Conversation with the Lord: Lord Jesus Christ, I know that you know and see everything. Help me remind myself of that everyday so that I can fully surrender and joyfully align my life to your will. I want to live a life that honors you my Lord and knowing that you want only the best for me keeps me at peace. Amen.
