Channeling regrets
“And the vessel he was making of clay was spoiled in the potter’s hand, and he reworked it into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to do.”
Jeremiah 18:4
I remember a gradeschool art project where our teacher made us bring broken egg shells and paint. During the class, she made us break the broken egg shells all the more, stick it on paper and paint on it, and make wonderful artworks out of it.
Like broken egg shells that turned into egg mosaic art, we can also repurpose our brokenness into wonderful works of art if only we will offer it to the Art Maestro of our lives — Jesus. In Isaiah 40:31 He promised that those who seek Him can start anew: “but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
When our mistakes are beyond repair, we can ask for forgiveness, repent and try our best to just pass on the life lessons to others especially to our children. This way, while we could no longer undo and restart our lives, we can help ensure that others will not make the same mistakes that we did. 2 Timothy 2:2 says “And what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also.”
As for our lives, we can always try to make the best out of it and hold on to the Lord’s promise of mercy and renewal. The scriptures state “He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit,” Titus 3:5.
The Lord is just waiting for us to surrender our broken lives to Him as written in Psalm 51:17 “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.”
And as we surrender our lives, we can be sure that he can make us into a new creation that can reflect His love and mercy on others.
Thank you for reading through our devotional today, i invite you to read 2 Timothy 2:24-26 to dig deeper on today’s topic.
