Daily devotional: Daily Walk

Walking with God is the best decision we could ever make. Staying on His path is the next most important life choice. Yes we may miss some things, but we will only miss those which are not best for us.

Deuteronomy 5:33
Deuteronomy 5:33

“You shall walk in all the way that the Lord your God has commanded you, that you may live, and that it may go well with you, and that you may live long in the land that you shall possess.”  Deuteronomy 5:33

While walking with God means having to follow each of His commands and teachings, our obedience allows us to enjoy a life with peace of mind. A life assured that we are right with God.

This is the  life Jesus died for us to live, because He wants us to have real joy, peace, contentment, and security that does not depend on our circumstances, but is anchored on our trust and faith in Him.

As the Gospel of Matthew quoted Jesus as saying:

“Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.” Matthew 16:24-25

And so as we start this year, may we fully comprehend that carrying our cross does not only entail bearing the challenges that we have. Having the resolve to carry our cross means sacrificing, and doing what it takes and surrendering what needs to be surrendered to stay on track in following Jesus.

“So as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;” Colossians 1:10

Thank you for reading through our devotional today. I invite you to ponder on 1 John 1:7, Micah 6:8 and Colossians 1:10 to dig deeper on today’s topic.

Reflection Question:  How can you stay faithful in your walk with the Lord this year. What will help you stay on track?

Conversation with the Lord: Heavenly Father, I want to continue walking in your ways. May you give me the grace to continue following you. Amen.
