One of the most popular types of videos online is the “face reveal.”
In these videos, the Youtuber who only uploads faceless videos,
decides to share a video showing His face. It is of course thrilling
for avid followers to finally see how the uploader looks since in
their mind they know him already because they listen to what he talks
about each time.
As human beings in search of our life’s meaning and purpose, we may be
prompted to seek God. We could go to church regularly, try to read the
Bible, pray everyday, yet it seems like we still cannot really feel
God’s presence. We get bored, go through the motions as if praying to
God is just another item on our to-do list, and rarely feel touched by
what we read and hear.
But why does this happen? How come others seem to have zeal and
blessed hope in their hearts when we feel dry, and unable to hear and
feel God in our lives? Most likely, what we need to do is to seek Him
more.
“You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.”
Jeremiah 29:13
While only God can control when He will reveal Himself to us, we can
urge Him on by invoking His promise to be present in our lives when we
seek and invite Him in.

“The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in
truth.” Psalm 145:18
The Bible tells us that the Lord vows to reveal Himself to us when we
seek Him earnestly. We just have to sincerely put in effort to get to
know Him. We can do this when we intentionally grow our faith, when we
prioritize spending time with the Lord. When we do not rush through
our prayers and Bible reading.
We should also find ways to understand scripture; actively listen to
sermons, sing church songs from our heart, and take the time to
reflect on the meaning of the Bible passages we encounter. Likewise,
when we exert effort to find out how best we can apply its lessons in
our lives.
“If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray
and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear
from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” 2
Chronicles 7:14
When we do this, and put Him first in our lives, we will eventually
get to feel His guiding presence. He will reveal Himself to us.
In the New Testament, the Resurrected Christ appeared to two of His
disciples incognito. Jesus joined them as they were walking along the
road and they talked a lot about the Messiah and the surrounding
events and His death. He spent time with them, even explaining
scriptures and prophecies to them, with these two men unaware that
they were already talking to the risen Lord.
“While they were talking and discussing together, Jesus himself drew
near and went with them. But their eyes were kept from recognizing
him.” Luke 24:15-16
When the time came to rest, the two men still invited Jesus to be with
them after their long journey, and this is when He revealed Himself to
them.
“When he was at table with them, he took the bread and blessed and
broke it and gave it to them. And their eyes were opened, and they
recognized him. And he vanished from their sight.” Luke 24:30-31
Like those two followers of Jesus, we too can experience the miracle
of His revelation, and a life lived in His presence. We must just
sincerely make an effort to know the Lord intimately, and make Him the
King of our lives.
“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and
opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with
me.” Revelation 3:20
