Almost every kid has one way or another dreamt of living a fairy tale
life. In fact some adults have yet to outgrow that dream. And who can
blame anyone who keeps that desire in her heart? A life lived as a
prince or princess is after all a life that seems to be without
worries. A life that provides for everything one will ever need.
As followers of Jesus, we are invited to live this kind of iife. We
are invited to be part of a kingdom whose reign will never end, whose
ruling authority is the King of all Kings.

“By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the
children of the devil: whoever does not practice righteousness is not
of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother.” 1 John 3:10
When we surrendered our life to Jesus and vowed to follow Him. we
instantly become daughters or sons of the King of Kings. We have taken
on a new identity as a child of God. We no longer live in darkness and
uncertainty, because we have a Heavenly Father that is mighty,
sovereign, gracious and ever-loving.
“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become
children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not
of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of
God.” John 1:12-13
And while the kingdom life offered by Jesus is unlike the worldly
kingdom life of luxury, power, and glitz, we are offered the kind of
life lived by royalty. A life of peace amidst chaos. The ability to
sleep amid inevitable troubles and feeling rested mentally,
emotionally, and physically because you fully depend on God’s guidance
and wisdom to get you through your daily toil and struggles.
A life that is not burdened with an insatiable desire for material
wealth, luxury, fame and even more power because you know that true
riches are not in possessions or lavish lifestyles. A life lived
securely under the protection and provision of the mightiest,
strongest ruler ever.
“See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be
called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does
not know us is that it did not know him.” 1 John 3:1
When we truly know who and what matters, we can live the abundant life
that Jesus Christ offers. A life of worship and obedience that comes
with God’s enduring presence, a clear conscience, and ability to enjoy
God’s blessings that money can never buy.
“And I will be a father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to
me, says the Lord Almighty.” 2 Corinthians 6:18
Thank you for reading through our devotional today. I invite you to
ponder on Romans 8:14-21 and 1 John 3:1-3 to dig deeper on today’s
topic.
Reflection Question: Do you long to live like a royalty? Are your
material possessions and current lifestyle give you the peace that
your soul longs for?
Conversation with the Lord: Father God, thank you for adopting us into
your family. Give us the grace to fully live our new identity as
children of God. And as such we should obey you, and fully trust in
you as our Everlasting Father and Sovereign King. Amen.
