Gratitude can heal our brokenness. When we choose to give thanks to the Lord in spite of our troubles, we will begin to realize that God does not allow us to be totally empty and struggling at all areas of our lives at one time.
Once we see a thing or circumstance that we can be grateful for, and we thank God for it, our eyes will be slowly opened to the good things that remain in our lives and what truly matters to our existence.
We will get to realize the truth that will heal us, as we remember the divine interventions, and God-orchestrated interruptions that delivered us from our past troubles.
“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18
In time, we will know in our hearts that God can use delays, disappointments, and even our own broken hearts and dreams for His glory and our own good. Only He can make a miracle out of the mess that we are in, and only His love and mercy can truly transform us and heal our mind and soul.
“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28
When we intentionally choose to look away from our troubles and fix our eyes on Jesus, we may not know what to do or how to go about our troubles but He will bring us through it. He will guide us through the storms, and walk with us through our fiery ordeals. He is indeed a faithful, consistent, and promise-keeping God that we can truly rely on no matter what.
“The LORD is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him.” Psalm 28:7
Thank you for reading through our devotional today. I invite you to
ponder on Psalm 103:1-5 to dig deeper on today’s topic.
Reflection Question: Have you been more intentional in thanking God for all the blessings He has showered you? How can you become more vocal about everything you can thank Him for?
Conversation with the Lord: Lord Jesus Christ, thank you for everything that you have done for me and my life. I am sorry for the many times I have failed to be grateful for all these, as I have been blinded by the things that preoccupy me. Give me the grace and confidence Lord, to continue thanking you for both big and small things that you do for me and those I care about. Amen.
