Daily devotional: Held up high

When Jesus got us out from the muddy pit of sin, He did not only redeem us. He also removed our emotional dirt, cleansed us of our past mistakes, and crowned us with honor so that we can walk and face life anew without shame.

Isaiah 61:7
Isaiah 61:7

And so when we come to Him with a sorry heart that is ready to turn away from a life of sin, He removes our transgressions from us, and even forgets about all of it, giving us a clean slate.

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9

And so, just as God chooses to forgive and forget the life of sin that we lived, may we have the courage to forgive ourselves as well. May we have the confidence to face the new life God gave us without any guilt. Instead may we live it with joy and hope that comes in believing in a Savior who only has good plans for us.

“Instead of shame and dishonor, you will enjoy a double share of honor. You will possess a double portion of prosperity in your land, and everlasting joy will be yours.” Isaiah 61:7

Thank you for reading through our devotional today. I invite you to ponder on Isaiah 43:25Psalm 103:11-12, and 1 John 1:7-9 to dig deeper on today’s topic.

Reflection Question: Are you still living in shame and guilt after receiving Christ as your Savior? How can knowing that He forgets our sins help in making you live a clean slate?

Conversation with the Lord: Lord Jesus Christ, thank you for giving me a new life. May you give me the courage to live it without shame and guilt, as I hold on to your promise to take away all the past mistakes that I made. May I be able to walk forward in the life I am now living for you. Amen.
