Daily devotional: His Battle

Whenever we are struggling to meet our life goals and ambitions, may we remember that we can accomplish things not with our own might, nor with our own credentials, connections and best effort. We can accomplish great things  with our knees bent towards the one who planned it all.

Deuteronomy 20:4
Deuteronomy 20:4

“Now this I know: The Lord gives victory to his anointed. He answers him from his heavenly sanctuary with the victorious power of his right hand. Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.” Psalm 20:6-7

And so let us not lose heart when facing seemingly insurmountable obstacles, and opponents who appear to be far mightier than us. We should not even think of getting back against those who willingly put us down, as the Lord promises to exact vengeance on our behalf.

Why then should we be anxious or terrified when we are assured that our battles belong to the Lord — the King of Kings, whose power, presence, and knowledge are unmatched?

“For the Lord your God is He who goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.” Deuteronomy 20:4

And so day after day, let’s seek His guidance for our lives. Let’s not cease in striving to follow His ways, align with His will, and uphold His truth. And whenever difficulties seem to paralyze us, we can comfort ourselves with His promise to fight for His people.

“Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” Hebrews 4:16

Thank you for reading through our devotional today. I invite you to ponder on Psalm 20 to dig deeper on today’s topic.

Reflection Question: How do you strengthen yourself when it seems like there is something that’s hindering you from achieving your goals? How can your trust in God help you become more calm in the face of obstacles?

Conversation with the Lord:  Heavenly Father, thank you for assuring me that I am never alone in fighting my battles. That I have you in my corner, and in fact you are the one who will fight for me. Thank you and may you grant me the confidence to continue lifting all my battles to you. Amen.
