Daily devotional: History

Let us not erase the history of God’s goodness in our lives. Remembering His many blessings, and treasuring the times He came to our rescue are powerful weapons of encouragement whenever we face difficulties. These memories will keep us strong to endure internal struggles we dare not talk about.  If God was faithful then, He will remain faithful until now because He is an unchanging God.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Hebrews 13:8

Psalm 143:5
Psalm 143:5

Like the great King David, let us strengthen our soul with the truth of the Lord’s goodness in our lives. As he faced crisis upon crisis in his lifetime, David chose to meditate on what God has done for Him, and chose to anchor his hope for deliverance on God’s faithfulness.

“So my spirit grows faint within me; my heart within me is dismayed. I remember the days of long ago; I meditate on all your works and consider what your hands have done.” Psalm 143:4-5

And so whenever we are faced with seemingly insurmountable trouble, let us encourage ourselves with the truth that we serve a God who personally cares for us. Who helps us not from a distance.

“But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31

Thank you for reading through our devotional today. I invite you to ponder on Psalm 143 and Hebrews 13:6-8 to dig deeper on today’s topic.

Reflection Question: How do you strengthen yourself whenever you face seemingly insurmountable difficulties, that you feel embarrassed to share with others? How does knowing that God is our ever present help, strengthen you?

Conversation with the Lord: Heavenly Father, thank you for the many times you have delivered me throughout my lifetime. Thank you you are faithful even when I was not, thank you for your mercy and your love. Amen.
