Daily devotional: It shall pass

Just as bad times don’t last forever, good times also come to an end. And so let us ask the Lord to especially bless us with attentiveness and an unwavering faith during both moments in life.

May we not be too overwhelmed to learn the lessons that come with the difficulties we face. That we not become too distracted to notice God’s presence whenever we go through trials. And may we allow these challenges to transform us into better people.

Romans 15:13
Romans 15:13

“He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man’s heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end.” Ecclesiastes 3:11

At the same time, let us ask God to allow us to be fully aware of the joyful moments He blesses us with. May we possess a grateful heart, and appreciate the Lord’s graciousness during times of triumph and joy. And may it lead us into becoming more generous to others, and appreciative of our loved ones.

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” Romans 15:13

May God grant us the courage to draw strength from the memories of good and bad moments in our lives as we face the uncertainties of the future. May the deliverance and respite God gives us in times of trouble give us hope that He will remain faithful to His promises.

“And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.” 1 Peter 5:10

And may the sweet and joyful moments of the past help us hold on to our Lord ever tightly because we know that relief is just around the corner when the darkest of times loom. May our good and bad experiences prove to us that we serve a God who does not withhold anything good to His people.

Thank you for reading through our devotional today. I invite you to ponder on Ecclesiastes 3:1-15 to dig deeper on today’s topic.

Reflection Question: Are you present in the moments of difficulties and triumph, or are you too distracted to notice God’s graciousness amidst it all? How can you be more aware of His presence during times of difficulty and joy?

Conversation with the Lord: Heavenly Father, thank you for being with us through good times and bad times. For being present in every season of our lives. Grant us the confidence to continue holding on to you throughout our existence, and anchor our faith and hope in You alone. Amen.
