Making a deeper commitment to follow Christ means leveling Him up from being just your 9-1-1 call operator, to the first one on your speed dial as the one you reach out for in both joy and crisis.
It means upgrading your relationship with Him from just meeting with Him every Sunday, to talking to Him every single day of your life. It is when you decide to hang out with Jesus for good. When you choose to hold on, study, and try doing every word that He says, we grow our faith.
“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” Hebrews 11:6
And it is this faith that will guide us, give us peace amid inevitable life troubles, and the courage and resilience to go ahead and move on in life amid the scary and hurtful stuff that may come our way.
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” John 14:27
Thank you for reading through our devotional today. I invite you to ponder on 2 Peter 3:14-18 to dig deeper on today’s topic.
Reflection Question: Do you feel the need to level up your faith? What new habits can help you deepen your relationship with the Lord?
Conversation with the Lord: Lord Jesus Christ, thank you for loving us first, and for also wanting to deepen our relationship. Give me the grace to continue seeking and pursuing you, my Lord. Amen
