Daily devotional: Overstep

We must be careful to not overstep our bounds.  Let us not try to do things that only God can do. Let us keep in mind that when we seek Him. He will help us do what we need to do, however He will not help us do things that ONLY HE CAN DO.

So let us not try too hard to control every situation, let us not try to do everything on our own strength and power. Let us trust God enough to do His part, and have faith in His sufficient grace.

Isaiah 12:2
Isaiah 12:2

“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9

Keeping in mind that God is sovereign, we can then rest in the assurance that as long as we do what He calls us to do, the outcomes of our struggles will all be within His good will, and good plan for our lives.

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28

Our God is merciful and just. and as long as we strive hard to abide in Him and be guided by His word, we have nothing to fear. We can trust that we will have His peace amid our struggles. We can confidently hold on to His promises, because He is faithful.

“Surely God is my salvation;  I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord himself, is my strength and my defense, He has become my salvation.” Isaiah 12:2

Thank you for reading through our devotional today. I invite you to ponder on Ephesians 1:17-23 to dig deeper on today’s topic.

Reflection Question:  Have you been handling all your struggles on your own? How does knowing that God offers to unburden you make you feel?

Conversation with the Lord: Heavenly Father, allow me to take up Your offer to rest in You. Thank you for dying on the cross to save me, for being my guide and my stay. Thank you for being you. Please give me the grace to continue following your ways, and trusting in your sovereignty. Amen.
