A way to be at peace with God is to come clean with him on a daily basis. When you confess everything to Him in prayer, tell Him how sorry you are, turn away from those sins, and ask Him to forgive you through Jesus Christ, your sins will be forgiven. That forgiveness will heal your soul and assure you that you are at peace with God and that you have another chance to become an improved version of yourself.
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9
God sees our efforts to become more like Him and so He covers our weaknesses with His grace. We may be slow to obey at times, or we may be weak in certain areas, but as He sees our willingness to follow Him, He will give us the chance to become more like Him.
“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22-23
And as we allow the Lord to transform us everyday by studying His life-giving words and putting His teachings into practice, we will notice that we become a better version of ourselves, one choice at a time, one action time.
“He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” Philippians 1:6
And so make it a habit to come clean with God everyday. Tell Him what is weighing your heart down, the sins you have committed, the temptations you face, and ask for the grace of forgiveness and the strength to turn away from bad choices. Thank Him as well for anything and everything He has done for you, big and small. And with this, allow His peace to envelop your soul, and embrace your heart.
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27
