Daily devotional: Present and Personal

Our God is a personal God. He does not love, heal or help us from a distance. He meets us where we are at, and He reaches out to us with His compassionate hands.

He is not out of touch, and He understands how we feel. When He became man, He felt both physical and emotional pain, and so he understands our struggles from a human perspective, and He knows exactly how to make us feel better.

Psalm 121:2-3
Psalm 121:2-3

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

So whenever we feel alone in our struggles let us rest assured that He knows how we feel, and He is an ever-present help in times of trouble.

“My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip— he who watches over you will not slumber;” Psalm 121:2-3

May we not doubt His love and faithfulness, especially now that we strive to follow Him. And so whenever we feel discouraged and hopeless in the face of a crisis, let us remember the many times He helped us even before we came to fully know Him. How much more now that we have a personal relationship with Him?

“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him!” Romans 5:8-9

Thank you for reading through our devotional today. I invite you to ponder on Psalm 121 and Romans 5:6-10 to dig deeper on today’s topic.

Reflection Question: Can you remember the times that God personally rescued you from a seemingly insurmountable trouble? How does His deliverance then assure you that He will help you with your current difficulties?

Conversation with the Lord: Lord Jesus Christ, thank you that you are my rescuer, my rock, and refuge. Please grant me the grace to continue recalling your faithfulness in my life so that I can be strong as I wait on you. Amen.
