If we can say that once in our life we have received the gift of healing of our physical mind, body, or spirit, may we remember that we have been strengthened by God so that we can serve. We have been healed so that we can care for others.
“See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god beside me; I kill and I make alive; I wound and I heal; and there is none that can deliver out of my hand.” Deuteronomy 32:29
One of the many healing stories found in the new testament is the story about Jesus healing the apostle Peter’s mother-in-law. She had a high fever that time, but when Jesus healed her, she instantly got better and took it upon herself to serve the visitors in their house.
“And when Jesus entered Peter’s house, He saw his mother-in-law lying sick with a fever. He touched her hand, and the fever left her, and she rose and began to serve him.” Matthew 8:14-15
Many times, when we get healed, we remain focused on ourselves, our needs, and our vulnerabilities. Not only do we forget to thank God, we also forget that others around us need comfort, care and understanding too. May we remember that God healed us for a reason, and as a way of thanking Him, we should be like Peter’s mother-in-law and pay the blessing forward,
The same principle is observed in us receiving God’s comfort during trying times of our life. In His letter to the Corinthians, the Apostle Paul reminded us that we have been comforted by the Lord at our lowest so that we can be gentle and spend time with people who need attention, warmth, and reassurance.
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
If we think about it, day after day, all the blessings that we receive equip and enable us into doing good things for others. It also gives us more reasons to continue worshipping and being thankful to our Almighty Father. Indeed we have been blessed to bless others, and we can do good today, and every single day of our lives.
“And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” Colossians 3:17
Thank you for reading through our devotional today. I invite you to ponder on Colossians 3:12-17 to dig deeper on today’s topic.
Reflection Question: Have you paid forward the blessings that you have received from the Lord?
Conversation with the Lord: Heavenly Father, I cannot thank you enough for healing me physically and spiritually. Please give me the grace to pay the blessing forward to those who also need comfort, healing and care. Amen.
