Daily devotional: Surely

We are not called to blindly trust God. Instead, we are called to a relationship with Him. God wants us to get to know Him more, and consequently trust Him through the revelation of His character, and through our personal knowledge of His promises.

Hebrews 11:6

We can deepen our knowledge of God by spending time with Him. Practically this means reading and reflecting on His words in the Bible regularly, and intently listening in church.

“So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.” Romans 10:17

And as we learn and delight in the stories, the teachings, and everything He has uttered, we will find that we trust Him more. That more than ever, the hope we have gets firmly anchored in Him. The joy that we have is no longer tied to our circumstances, but in His presence in our lives.

“And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who seek him.” Hebrews 11:6

And as we mature in our faith walk, we will find ourselves trusting Him in both the good times and the bad times. In our hearts, we know that the God we serve and trust, has good plans for us. He will never abandon us, and will never falter.

“But blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” Jeremiah 17:7-8

Thank you for reading through our devotional today. I invite you to ponder on  Psalm 56:3-4 and 2 Timothy 3:16 to dig deeper on today’s topic.

Reflection Question: In your faith walk, how can you increase your trust in God more? How can you spend more time getting to know Him?

Conversation with the Lord: Lord Jesus Christ, thank you for loving me in both my good and bad days. I want to get to know you more. Give me the resolve to intentionally seek you, and delight in your embrace. Amen.
