Daily devotional: The Fingerprints

Before comparing ourselves with others, let us pause and take the time to consider that we are uniquely and wonderfully created by our Heavenly Father.

God took the loving time to create unique and individual fingerprints for each of us, just to differentiate us from each other. This should at least assure us that He does not want us to strive to be like another, or copy another person’s path. Each of us have been given unique giftings and talents.

Ephesians 2:10
Ephesians 2:10

“And yet, O Lord, you are our Father. We are the clay, and you are the potter. We all are formed by your hand.” Isaiah 64:8

And while our social and individual circumstances differ, we are all the same in His loving eyes: we are all His children, and He is ready to listen to us and more than happy to spend time with us.

Let us not allow the expectations of this world to force us into becoming the person we are not. Let us not succumb to the pressure of conforming to the trend, just to please those who may not really have our best interests in mind. Let us remind ourselves that we are created differently, with an individual purpose, uniquely tailored for God’s best plan for each of our lives.

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” Psalm 139:13-14

And as we become a new creation in Christ, He again reminds us that we are unique, that He has created us to have a loving and personal relationship with Him, and to further His great purpose.

“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” Ephesians 2:10

Thank you for reading through our devotional today. I invite you to ponder on Psalm 139:1-18 to dig deeper on today’s topic.

Reflection Question: Do you have the urge to compare yourselves to others, or even compare what they have to what you currently possess? How is knowing that you are uniquely made helping you to become a better follower of Jesus?

Conversation with the Lord: Heavenly Father, thank you for creating me with a unique persona. Forgive me for the times I looked at what others have or the paths they are forging. Help me trust your good plans for me each time I feel insecure in all these. Amen.
