Daily devotional: Unshakeable

Your heart may have been broken, your dreams may have been shattered, but there is someone looking forward to pick-up all its broken pieces again. He is the One who will never leave, the One whose mind will never change, the one who will never, ever lie.

“Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you.” Isaiah 54:10

God is the One who knows absolutely everything about you, yet truly accepts you for who you are. No hidden agendas, no compromises. The One who will tirelessly wait, and be there in both good times and bad.

He is the only one who can truly give you joy, peace, and comfort. So go for the love that can never be taken away from you. Go run to His widespread arms on the cross. Jesus loves you, and He is the only one who can do it forever. For eternity.

“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:37-39:

In our search for meaning, companionship, true love or true friendship, stumbling is inevitable. Unmet expectations are certain because in reality only God can meet our deepest needs. Let us open our hearts to Him and get to know Him, because as we grow deeper into knowing His character we will know that everything we need, everything we are looking for is all in Him. We will have better interpersonal relationships too because we will no longer impose unreasonable expectations on others, because Jesus already satisfies our heart and soul.

“Since you are precious and honored in my sight, and because I love you, I will give people in exchange for you, nations in exchange for your life.” Isaiah 43:4

Thank you for reading through our devotional today. I invite you to ponder on Romans 5:6-8  and Ephesians 2:4-5 to dig deeper on today’s topic.

Reflection Question: Does unmet expectation play a big role when you become disappointed, frustrated and heartbroken over your relationships? How does knowing that only God can meet your deepest longings satisfy your need for connection?

Conversation with the Lord: Heavenly Father, sorry for the times I choose not to reach out for you when I needed comfort and companionship. Sorry for demanding those things from other people who really cannot meet all the longings that I have. Give me the confidence to reach out to you my Lord, and the grace for me to get to know you more. Amen.
