Kid-friendly easy tuna nuggets recipe

Kid-friendly easy tuna nuggets recipe
Here is a kid-friendly easy tuna nuggets recipe
Been meaning to write this post for the longest time. You see i have mentioned this easy tuna nuggets recipe a lot of times in my meal plans, toddler meal suggestions and in our P100 Budget Meal series but the blogpost has always been pushed back.
Anyway, i made some last week for the kids — both for meryenda and baon (but this can pass off as ulam as well) so i thought of documenting the process and make a blogpost out of it.
This is an easy tuna nuggets recipe to make especially if you are fine with just an ordinary round or bite size shaped nuggets. It is just like a super thick torta or patties. It is unlike the usual nuggets that is made of breaded piece of chicken, fish fillet or pork.
Anyway, i came across the base of this recipe over the internet (check out the original recipe here), and made a few tweaks to suit our family’s taste. I am sharing this tuna nuggets recipe with you and hope youll give it a try.
So without further ado, here’s our —

Easy Tuna Nuggets Recipe:

Ingredients:
1 can of tuna flakes in oil

2 tablespoons of flour

2 individual packs of soda or wheat crackers (skyflakes was originally used by this recipe’s author, but I think Fita can also work well in this recipe)

1 egg
Pinch of pepper
Pinch of salt (omit salt when serving to babies and toddlers)
Pinch of onion powder
Pinch of garlic powder
Oil for frying
OPTIONAL — parsley and diced onions

How to cook tuna nuggets:

1. Lightly drain the tuna from its oil. Flake it further and set aside.

2. Pound the crackers until they turn into small crumbs. Set aside.

3. In a bowl beat the egg and add the salt, pepper, onion powder and the garlic powder.
4. Add in the flour and mix well until the lumps disappear. Add in the cracker crumbs and mix till somewhat smooth.
5. Add in the tuna and mix thoroughly until you can come up with a thick batter.
6. You can either spoon a portion of the batter in a pan with hot oil or try to make nice shapes out of it by flattening the batter and using cookie cutters.

7. Fry the nuggets and then drain on paper towels.

I had so much fun whipping up this recipe, i hope youll have fun too.

8. You may also whip up a double batch of this recipe for freezing. After frying the nuggets, just cool them until room temperature and store in a sealed freezer-friendly container. If you will be putting it in ziploc freezer bags, i suggest that you double bag it to avoid frezer burns. When serving your frozen nuggets you can either toast and heat from your oven toaster or fry one minute on each side. No need to thaw before cooking.
Here is how i packed it for my child’s baon:
My eldest is a fan of any fish dish, and she so liked this nuggets recipe.
