The post Weekly school baon ideas: tasty and easy to prepare! appeared first on Happy Pinay Mommy.
]]>Hello everyone! Here’s another installment of a week’s worth of school baon ideas! If you are new to this series and would like to check out our past posts, you may do soย here. As usual, I try my best to make it as wholesome and nutritious as possible, but there are times convenience knocks at the door (hahaha)!
I try my best toย add fruit for each dayย but there really are times when I could not get as much in my weekly grocery shopping. This week, I tried a corn dog recipe because I did not want to buy those frozen corn dogs in the grocery. I did not want to buy them because they are a bit expensive and I thought it would be more economical if I could just try doing it myself, so since it came out as a success (according to my kids and the classmates they shared their baon with) I will be sharing the recipe soon.
Anyway, without further ado, here are some school lunch box ideas for your grade schoolers:
1. Monday: Avocado and Ham sandwich, boiled egg and orange wedges
2. Tuesday: Egg omelette sandwich, chicken popcorn, and mangosteen fruit
3. Wednesday: Chorilog: Chorizo slices, scrambled eggs, and steamed rice, plus boiled saba banana for dessert
4. Thursday: Homemade mini cheese corn dog waffle and Yan-yan chocolate treat
5. Friday: Chicken Franks, rice balls, and sweet potatoes fried mojo-style
So that’s it, starting today, I will endeavor to post these baon ideas by end of the week, so that you can at least include the ingredients of the suggested items in your weekend grocery list.
At this point, I hope you could allow me to share with you one of my favorite bible passages, this time from the Book of Acts of the Apostles:
"From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us." ACTS 17:26-27
Thank you for stopping by and till next post!

]]>The post Healthy Baon Ideas that adhere to Dep Ed Rules appeared first on Happy Pinay Mommy.
]]>I have been sharing photos of my eldest’s baon for about two years already and some of the comments I get from our FB Page is that some schools implement stricter guidelines on what baon or snacks students can bring. Healthy baon ideas are what they need. Not that what we are posting are unhealthy, but it is not nutritious enough to meet the Dep Ed guidelines according to the moms.
According to these moms, most of the rules reflect the Department of Education’s memorandum no. 13 series of 2017 issued March last year. While the department order generally refers to food made available in school canteens, some schools chose to adopt the food guidelines as their “baon” guidelines as well.
So what can the students pack for snack and what snacks are prohibited? The list is long but it generally disallows children from bringing processed food (hotdog, nuggets, bacon, pancit canton), heavily salted food, sweets (including pastries, donuts, pies, cakes, chocolates and sweets), deep-fried food like french fries, fish balls etc., and any type of sugary beverage including chocolate milk, sweet milk, yogurt drink, and juices except real fresh buco juice and those that have a very low level of sugar content.
And while this is good news for us parents, it also means that we have to take more time to plan and prepare our little one’s baons.
So to help newbie mommies map out their school kid’s baon I took this challenge and prepared school snacks that adhere to the Dep-ed guidelines. Yes it is hard, but it is doable. It is for our children’s good anyway.
Hope you can check out the album in our FB Page @happypinaymommy.com or check out this album link:

Here by the way are some baon samples from that album:
Also if you have long been following our weekly baonserye, you may notice that some of the baon boxes i shared are already in the baon ideas album. I did not mean to be redundant, i just want our Pasado sa Dep Ed Baon Series to be more organised for moms who would only need these specific baon ideas.
Thanks and happy baon prepping!

]]>Hello everyone! I know classes have been suspended today, but still some mommies would have to plan out their little one’s school baons for the whole week. So as usual ill be sharing with you weekly baon ideas through a recap of the school snacks I packed for my school girl last week.
If you are new to this #baonserye I share on a weekly basis photos of Achie’s baon boxes throughout the past week to help newbie school mamas map out their child’s baon for the current week. (Click here for our past weekly baon series)
As I always say, please be mindful of the portion sizes vis-a-vis your child’s age as some food items or portions shown in the photo can be a choking hazard to pre-schoolers. Special attention on the rambutan mommies – please replace with another fruit if your child is less than seven years old and is not yet familiar as to how safely eat this fruit.
Caution as well with the allergies your child may have and the school guidelines on what your child may or may not bring for #schoolbaon. So without further ado here’s —
MONDAY — Good mood pancit bihon (good mood kasi wala halos toyo ), mini slices of toasted bread, and some quail eggs.
TUESDAY — Cheese Pandesal and then some peeled fresh rambutan — please replace with another fruit if child is younger than 7years old and is not yet familiar about the proper way of eating this fruit. you may choose other fruits for your weekly baon ideas too.
WEDNESDAY — Tortang giniling wedges, otap, and organic juice box.
THURSDAY — Choco-hazelnut bear sandwiches, moon panaderia cookie, and coated green peas (ewan ko naman bakit red ang coating ng green peas na ito ).
FRIDAY (extended school day) — Tuna croissant, choco wafer cubes, chocnut treat, and baked cheese biscuits. had this baon idea because my eldest mentioned that it may be fun to not eat rice sometimes for school lunch during Fridays.
So there you have it, hope I was able to help you plan your little one’s baon for the week. Hope you can check out our Pinterest Baon Ideas board, or the baon ideas section in the website, or the close to 200 school baon ideas we have in our Facebook Album. ]]>This week went by so fast, I almost failed to realize that it is the weekend already. Sharing with you school snack baon ideas for the coming week as i recall what I have packed for my daughter this past week.
If you are new to this baonserye, hope you heed our reminder to mind the portions of the snacks for possible choking hazards. So without further ado here’s our —

Cheesy baked potatoes are easy to make. Boil marble potatoes for 10 minutes. Slice into quarters and arrange on baking cups. Top with grated cheese and bake for about five minutes.
TUESDAY – banana-peanut butter roll-ups, boiled marble potatoes in olive oil sprinkled with a bit of salt and pepper, and ripe mango cubes.
WEDNESDAY:Boiled sweet potatoes and brown sugar dip, peanuts, and soymilk.

]]>Gorgeous Monday everyone! Sharing with you Achiebelle’s snackboxes the past week as part of our weekly baon series: this week’s baon.
Hopefully, this could help out newbie school mamas map out the baon of their little ones this new school week. Again, as i usually say, please mind the portions for choking hazards, allergies, and snack regulations in your child’s school.
So without further ado, here’s week number four of our weekly baon serye —
MONDAY — Failed maruya kaya let’s just call it saba banana pancakes, baked cheese biscuits and yakult.
TUESDAY — Small apple (she insists on taking a whole fruit instead of sliced or cubed ones), raisins, and experimental turon — turon with camote instead of banana and langka.
WEDNESDAY — Fried saba banana sticks, fresh ripe mango cubes, and cheddar cheese sticks.
THURSDAY –– Penoy, garlic peanuts, and herbed marble potatoes. The potatoes were easy to cook, i boiled them the night before — about 12 minutes. The next morning i just sliced it in half, and heated it up in a pan with olive oil with butter, a pinch of salt, pepper, paprika, and dried basil.
FRIDAY (extended school day) — Papaya chunks, chocolate wafer cubes, dried mangoes, gelatin and tocino with scrambled egg and rice.
