It is a reality that not all Filipino households have Ovens. And this is the reason why most of the native desserts in our country are steamed. Almost all homes have tiered steamers we all grew up seeing.
So for the third issue in this series, I am suggesting to you some
Steamed Filipino Dessert Recipes for Business:
Puto Leche / Leche Puto– Although the name is kind of weird, this is one happy dessert that you can sell. It is basically your usual puto in steroids because its base is made of custard-like leche flan, and the top portion is the usual native puto. You can color the rice cake any color you like too so that it will look all the more presentable and happier! Here is a very easy recipe to follow.
Leche Flan – Leche Flan is one of the most popular desserts in the Philippines, and you can sell it either by the llanera or by small cups if you plan to sell it as an individual dessert. Anyway, there are a lot of Leche Flan Recipes out there – some are disappointing too – this one is really close to what my Inay makes – super creamy and smooth Leche Flan.
Bibingka – Bibingka may just be more popular during the holiday season, but hey you can sell it in small portions a la bibingkinitan, package it in microwavable containers and you got a dessert/merienda/even breakfast on the go. You can either top it with red egg – yummy! Or Cheese, or kesong puti, or all of the above. Here is a quick and uncomplicated recipe you may wanna check out.
Steamed Cupcake – Yes you read it right, you do not need an oven to make a cupcake. Here is a good chocolate-based recipe. Do not forget to use a nice liner, some toppings, and pack it nicely!
Pichi-Pichi – If you want to sell something colorful, not so overwhelmingly sweet, but heavy on the tummy then pichi-pichi it is! You can top these with shaved coconut, cheese, and even ground peanuts! Here is a fun recipe.
So there you have it, I will be coming up with a couple more posts on Food items that you can sell to earn a side income in the Philippines. Always remember mommies that presentation may be key but at the end of the day, it is the taste and prep that will matter and will make your clients come back for more. Here is hoping that if you have the time, i wish you could drop by my Facebook page and hit the like button, so you can receive regular updates from Happypinaymommy.com direct on your newsfeed.
Thank you so much!
