Where to order smash cakes

Wondering where to order smash cakes in the Philippines? Here’s where you can buy or request for a custom made one. (Photo Credits)

Smash Cakes are just so popular in the recent years, as it is a great props for first birthday photo shoots.

In my humble opinion, any cake could be a smash cake as long as it has some type of icing (butter cream is best according to some photographers), since it will just be smashed anyway! But that is just me and my kuripot self. There is of course nothing wrong if you order custom made ones from your favorite cake maker, or buy from your favorite bakeshop so that in case the baby does not even want to smash it then you can still bring the cake home and eat it with the rest of the familia.

My kids got theirs from bakeshops near our house, I just made sure that their respective cakes match the photoshoot theme of their birthday. Of course I still chose the bakeshop that sells yummy cakes so that we can still bring home the remains of the smash cake that was not too messed up (I know to some of you this is a yucky thought, haha).

Anyway for those of you who are wondering where to order smash cakes for your baby in the Philippines, here is a list of —

Where to order Smash Cakes in the Philippines:

1. Supermarket Bakeshops – Every grocery that I frequent to has a grocery bakeshop, where you can buy affordable cakes in different sizes. They may not taste as great as the cakes from specialty or mainstream cake shops but it will definitely serve the purpose of just getting smashed! Prices can start at P125.00 for a small one, and they usually have simple designs and happy colors. Supermarkets that have grocery bakeshops include S & R, Rustan’s, Shopwise, SM Supermarkets, and the now (sadly) burnt Shoppersville Bakeshop.

S & R has their own Cake Decorating Station in Alabang. (Photo taken from S & R’s FB Page)

2. Mainstream Bakeshops – Bakeshops like Red Ribbon and Goldilocks are bakeshops that can deliver generic cakes to your home which can be used as smash cakes. They have enough branches that dot every part of the metro so you can also drive by as needed. Fortune Bakeshop is also yet another bakeshop that sells affordable but nice cakes that can also be used for this purpose. If you want something custom-made then you can also order from them. Prices of round cakes at Red Ribbon start at 330.00 for a small round cake, while a standard round greeting cake from Goldilocks start at P400.00 but they have a cute Rainbow Cake that costs P520.00.

3. Specialty Bakeshops – These are the cake shops that we love to order from whenever there’s a celebration in the family. So why not hit two birds with one stone by ordering from your favorite cake shop, use it for the smash cake photoshoot, and eat what is left of it if it did not get smashed Bakeshops that I can suggest include: Purple Oven (Chocolate campfire smash cake, anyone?), Estrel’s (dainty and yummy for your little one’s first birthday), Conti’s (No, not the mango bravo – sayang – the Strawberry Shortcake I think would look cute for a strawberry shortcake-themed birthday photoshoot!), The Chocolate Kiss (All White Devil’s Food Cake as against a very nice outdoor background perhaps?), Miss Polly’s (Brown Derby could be a great choice) and many more. Go shoot, then go eat!

They have a shop in SM Jazz, Makati along Jupiter and N. Garcia, and they have a kiosk in SM Megamall. Here’s a link to their FB Page.

Looking for Baptismal Party Souvenir Ideas for your christening or Dedication celebration in the Philippines? Here are some Suggestions. (Photo Credits to E Clay Souvenirs and Accessories)

One of the concerns of most parents who are about to have their baby christened is the Baptismal Souvenirs that they will give away to their guests.

There are tons of ideas out there, and it can get overwhelming really. There are a lot of considerations in choosing for Baptismal souvenirs, and apart from matching the theme, it should of course fit the budget, and for me – it should be practical. Practical in a sense that it would not just get tossed by the guests as soon as they come home from your party.

After attending too many binyag and dedication parties in the Philippines, and seeing a lot of possible souvenir items out there, here are some of my suggested –

Baptismal Party Souvenir Ideas:

1.Succulents – Giving out succulents is somewhat cool, and of course, can be useful as a plant décor in your guest’s home or office. It is not so expensive too as it can go as low as P40.00 each in Dangwa. For those who may not have the time to brave the traffic to that part of Manila, then it may be best to just order online – after all some stores can customize a greeting and a label for each pot. Check out my past post on this to get the list of online and physical stores that sell succulents for giveaways.  Below meanwhile is a photo of one of the souvenirs that Go Green Giveaways supply to their clients. Check out their FB Shop here.

2. Baby Cologne Spray – This is fun and fab especially when nicely packaged like this one from Provence Fragrances. Of course clients get to choose the scent and according to Provence Fragrances, their clients often choose kiddie scents for kid-related events such as baptism and first and seventh birthdays. The kiddie scents match the sticker label which has a theme/design related to kids, price range is usually around P40.00 to P60.00 per bottle. Here is a link to their FB Shop.

 3. Scented candles on a jar or tin — These are welcome gifts for me as it is always relaxing to light up a candle during stressful days. Check out Party Favors PH’s FB shop here.

4. Hand sanitizers — talk about useful stuff, this one will surely be used up by your guests especially if you were able to choose a generic clean scent that they will like. You can do a DIY hand sanitizer here, or go the hassle-free route and order from various suppliers out there like The Gift Corner. The gift corner can feature the name of your child and then the date of his christening in front, and then some of his stats at the back portion of the bottle. Price range is at P25.00 to P40.00 per piece with a minimum order of 30 pieces. Clients have five scents to choose from and they can request for the color of the gel that will be used for the sanitizer. Check out their FB Page here.

5. Kiddie stool — it may be too big for your guests to lug around but hey most parents say they have been able to use it at home as well — kiddie stools or stools for home service manicuristas (haha very titas of manila). One of the highly recommended suppliers is Handicrafts Atbp you may check out their FB Shop here. I canvassed from different stores and the price range usually for mini stools is at around P90.00 to P95.00 apiece and then a bigger kiddie stool at around P185.00 per piece.

6. Anything on a mason jar — yes, the mason jar is useful already to begin with now put in something sweet and yummy, then that will be a great giveaway to bring home. Some put candies, color coordinated jellies or mallows, cookies or what have yous in the jar and tie it up with a cool ribbon and piece of cloth to match the event’s color motif. Check out my past post on where to buy mason jars and candies for candy buffet if and when you will allow yourself to be bitten by the DIY bug. Do not forget to find ribbons in this past post too!

7. Personalized Mini Pillows — you can always give out pillows to your guests. These are usually useful in the car or even in the home. Just be mindful of the design so it is important to commission a supplier who can create that fab token for your guests. Try Mommy Grace of Imprints. Price range is at P90.00 to P150.00 depending on the design.

8. Rosary or Rosary Bracelet— I have attended a lot of catholic christening parties that give out rosaries as souvenirs. This one from Party Favors PH looks lovely.

Where to buy Supplies for DIY Candy Buffets in the Philippines

Doing your child’s own candy buffet? Here’s where you can Where to buy Supplies for DIY Candy Buffets in the Philippines. (Photo Credits)

More and more moms are becoming practical nowadays that they try DIY projects for their children’s stuff (like cloth diapers, wipes, accessories), and even supplies like Fabcons – I wrote about it here, and even detergents etc.

Parties of course are a huge expense especially if your family is the type to hold big events. A cost-efficient method is to resort on DIY for some aspects of the party – or for more adventurous and crafty mommies – DIY the whole party itself.

I earlier wrote about where to find DIY Party Supplies (read it here), and I have monitored that it is one of my widely read posts. Now I am giving you a more specific blog entry that deals with one dainty, fun, and yummy aspect of any family event – The Candy Buffet!

So for mommies out there who are doing a DIY on their little tot’s candy buffet, here is –

Where to buy Supplies for DIY Candy Buffets in the Philippines:

1. S & R – S & R stores can provide your needs for chocolates and sweets. Here you can find big packs of imported chocolates, candies, and gummy stuff kids usually like. Check out their website here for their branches. If you are not a member, you can ask any member-friend to tag you along!

 2. Chocolate Lovers – Where else can you find all those sweet and yummy treats sans the packaging that you will not need but at Chocolate Lovers? They have a branch in Cubao, for inquiries and directions to the store here is a link to their website.

(Post continued below)

====================================================================

You may also want to read:

3. Sweet Craft – If you live near the Shaw Boulevard area then go to Sweet Craft, it is near Dansalan Gardens and yes you can find a lot of baking needs, as well as candies and sweets for your candy buffet. Here’s their FB Page.

4. Online and Brick-and-Mortar Baking Supplies Stores – If you have a baking supplies store in your neighborhood, then better check it out because they will be selling those sweets you can readily put on your candy jars! They also have the gummy jellies, candy coated chocolates, the works basically. They will most likely have online shops to like Bakers’ Basket Baking Supplies  (apart from the sweets they have all those dainty items and decors that you will need), Little MJ Baking and Party Supplies  (also for those dainty stuff for the candy buffet).

5. Divisoria – Well you have to be discerning about this if and when you will decide to source chocolates and sweets here – as you know there are unscrupulous sellers that may sell counterfeit candies and chocolates, or even expired goods. I am not saying this is the case in all of the stores in the area, but we better be mindful about all these especially since candy buffets attract children the most. What I can tell you though is that you can get supplies for the candy buffet table here like the jars, decorations, liners and the like. Special mention for the famous Tabora Street, and Lucky Chinatown Mall.

6. Dapitan Arcade – If you are looking into nice jars, serving wares and the like then Dapitan Arcade is the place for you. Super affordable prices even for unique pieces! After the party, I’m sure you can reuse the wares you’ve bought from here in all your other events, or even as your home decor.

7. Department Stores – You will be surprised because tiered plates and nice jars and other stuff you may use in your candy spread are also available in your nearest department stores. Just be more imaginative! Department stores you ay want to check out include Robinson’s Department Store Galleria Branch, SM Makati, and Landmark Makati.

8. UPDATED MAY 13, 2016: Sugar and Spice Manila — If you want Pinterest-style sweets wrapped in fancy papers, the head to Sugar and Spice Manila’s FB shop, and let your mind be dazzled with the many wrapping designs and yummy sweets they have to offer. Check out their page here.

9. UPDATED JUNE 23, 2016: Joshua Gummies: I have come across a lot of Moms who made their DIY candy buffet with supplies coming from this FB Shop, so you may wanna check them out. They have gummies, jellies, pika pika, and more importantly packages for DIY candy buffets if you do not want to get bothered with thinking of candy combinations. Here is a link to their FB shop.

10. UPDATED June 23, 2016: Candy Corner PH: Remember those stalls we try so hard to avoid when we go out in the mall with the kids in tow? Yes you can shop online via their website, plus they can even have party carts for you or make the DIY Canddy buffet for your child’s party altogether! Absolutely no hassle on your part, so if you’ve got the extra moolah for it then might as well get them as your supplier. Here is a link to their website.

11. UPDATED: August 4, 2016: MaraElla’s Party Supplies Store — If you are from Cebu then this may be the Candy Buffet Supplies Shop that you should be ordering from to also save up on shipping fees! They have gummies, chocolates, and other sweets that can fill your DIY Candy Buffet Jars and Serving Wares. Check out their FB Store here.

So, there you have it. I am sure there are other places and Online Shops where you may buy Supplies for DIY Candy Buffets in the Philippines. I will be updating this post as I discover more shops. If you have the time, hope you could drop by my Facebook page and hit the like button, so you can receive regular updates from Happypinaymommy.com direct on your newsfeed.

I have compiled a list of establishments where you can order the best lechon in time for the holidays. Of course these are just the ones I have tried already so you can be sure it is yummy and yummy and yummy. Did I say yummy?!

Here is where to order the Best Lechon in Manila:

1. Pepitas Kitchen — I cannot fully explain why I love this lechon. It is just superb especially the one with truffle rice inside! Heaven really!!! You’ve got to try it. They’ve got other stuffed lechon flavors too! Check out their FB page here. Also — if you have balikbayans coming in for the holidays or you simply want to try something new instead of going to buffets why not indulge in their Degustacion? Ask them about it!

2. Elar’s Lechon– well it has not survived this long if it ain’t good and yes! Elar’s is definitely one of the best. Skin is of course crispy and very yummy and meat is tender! My tita g won’t have a party without Elar’s in the buffet table! Check out their website here. You can actually order from them online and they will deliver!

3. Sabroso — My favorite exboss loves this and he orders from here for every gathering in the office — Bless him he is one of the nicest people i have known! Anyway, a good friend P also recommends this place and thanks to her i discovered that apart from the take out place in Katipunan Extension, there is a dine in restaurant (super small-ish though) along E. Rodriguez in Quezon City. It is along the same avenue where St. Luke’s is but this one is nearer tomas morato if I am not mistaken. Apart from the lechon we also ordered dinuguan and bopis hahaha. Anyway here is their FB page so you could ask for clearer directions.

4. Zubuchon — this Cebu based lechon restaurant also ships their goodies to Manila. You just have to place and pay for your orders three days before you want to pick it up from the airport! Now if they can also ship their Kamias shake too!!! Here is a link to their website.

5. Ulcing’s — Soooo yummy and worth every bit of the cholesterol and calories!!! Order this very tasty Cebu lechon and you will not regret 🙂 They have an outlet in Fort Bonifacio 🙂 here is their number: 497-7957, (0919) 361-3291 and they deliver to Makati for FREE!!! This is love <3

6. General’s Lechon – This lechon is Native LECHON at its finest!!! Sampled it in a friend’s birthday and I was told it is one of the best and it is! I am sure it is not the porkaholic talking but it really is good further research showed that this lechon is negros-style roasted lechon where the owners hail from. Check out their website here.

7. La Loma Lechunans — well, this is somewhat sentimental and mainstream – Ping-ping’s of course I remember my officemate G and even Mang Boy, who introduced me to not just lechon that is fresh from the grill — but also the super bagong luto and oh so crunchy chicharon bulaklak and bituka served at the dine-in areas in ping ping’s in La Loma. Imagine we will have lunch here in the Saturdays when we were required to go to work? Hahaha. Of course I’ll mention Mila’s lechon as well because it won’t be a household name if it were not good. My mom was friends with Aling Mila too. Some 20 years ago, I remember she’d send over kilo after kilo of lechon just because 🙂 thank you for the sweetness Aling Mila!

So there you have it, hope I was able to give you ideas on where to order the best Lechon in manila in time for Christmas.
