Like every Filipino family, we have our own preference for tapa. We dont like the tangy ones, but we like that good old garlic-soy-pepper combo.
For newbie cooking mamas who would like to serve tapsilog from scratch, ill be sharing with you our recipe for tender, yummy beef tapa. While you can always buy the packed and the pre-marinated ones, nothing can beat a tapa from scratch that suits the taste of the family.
So here’s our —

EASY BEEF TAPA RECIPE

Ingredients:
500 grams of thinly sliced beef (if your grocery carries yakiniku cut, buy that. If not, you can get the thinnest slice and then just pound it with a meat hammer prior to marinading).
3 Tbsp Soy Sauce
1 Tbsp Oyster Sauce
2 Tbsp brown sugar
1/4 tsp ground black pepper
1 tsp Knorr seasoning
6 cloves of garlic, minced
Oil for frying

Cooking Procedure for tender and easy beef tapa:

I usually marinate the beef tapa the same day i bought the beef so i would not have to thaw just to marinate. If that will bot be feasible yhen thaw the beef in the ref and marinate the night before you plan to cook it for breakfast

Mix all the marinade ingredients and stir well until the sugar is somehow dissolved.
Place the beef in a vacuum sealed container and pour the marinade, making sure that the beef has absorbed the marinade.
You may also want to divide your tapa marinade to single serving packs so you would just take the package out as needed. Ziplocs help a lot in minimising freezer space andin making sure that the marinade is distributed well in the meat.

As in all the recipes that ive shared, i suggest that you make a taste test. Fry a piece of beef and taste it. Adjust seasoning as needed before proceeding to the next step.
Marinate for at least three hours or overnight.
To cook, heat oil and the fry the beef. I usually slice ours bite sized prior to frying so cooking time will be even shorter, making the beef even more tender.
Cook your tapa quickly, usually thin slices are cooked in less than two minutes.

Set aside the cooked tapa and pour the remaining marinade in the same frying pan and let the sauce boil and reduce.
Serve the sauce on the side of your tapsilog plate 🙂
