Sleep is important for us moms.

Do you sometimes suffer from a lack of sleep? Are there instances where you feel like taking a nap all of a sudden? Do you get enough sleep and yet feel like you did not rest at all? It might be time that you start changing your sleeping habits. You might also want to make use of a sleep calculator. After all, sleep is one of the most crucial factors that affect the body. Without it, you will have difficulty doing even the most basic of things. What is the best time to sleep? And how about waking up? But why is it all-important at all? And how about sleep calculators? What are they? You better stick around because we are about to find out.

Fundamental Check: Sleep Calculators

A sleep calculator is a device or practically anything that suggests the ideal time for you to go to bed. In addition, a sleep calculator lets you calculate the best time to wake up in the morning. There are literally dozens of sleep calculators you can use, including the Puffy sleep time calculator. You can try it out, and you won’t lose anything.

Something About Sleeping Cycles

A sleeping cycle is an activity that happens once you fall into slumber. Your brain undergoes a ton of activities during a sleep cycle. Such activities have patterns that revolve around eye movement and muscle movement. And with these patterns come two primary sleeping cycles: REM sleep and Non-REM sleep.

●      REM sleep

Rapid eye movement or REM sleep is a type of sleep that occurs an hour after you hit the sack. It is during REM sleep where you have dreams.

●      Non-REM sleep

Non-REM sleep focuses on three main parts. During the last two stages is where you are under a deep sleep. Studies and experience dictate that it is very rough to wake up from deep sleep.

A complete sleeping cycle is ninety to a hundred minutes. And as your rest progresses, your body will undergo cycles between REM and Non-REM sleep.

Sleep: How Much Does An Individual Need?

The truth is that every age group has a different requirement when it comes to sleep. Find out more below.

●      An infant needs to have at least 15 hours of sleep per day.

●      Toddlers and preschoolers require about 11 to 12 hours of sleep every day.

●      Teenagers need to have a good eight-hour sleep daily.

●      Adults should have at least seven to eight hours of sleep every day.

●      Pregnant women need more rest time during the first three months of their pregnancy.

How Crucial Is Sleeping Anyway?

Sleep is paramount for the well-being and health of any individual. It is a must if you want to stay in shape. It is also ideal if you wish to do your daily things. Plus, a decent amount of rest will shower you with tons of benefits. Read about some of them below.

●      Sleeping well will help out with hormonal release. Hormonal release handles your growth and health. The more you sleep, the better you become. And just imagine that height difference!

●      Sleeping also helps your brain function way better.

●      You will have less time worrying about heart conditions when you sleep well.

●      Sleeping also assists in weight loss management. We aren’t fooling around with this one.

●      The practice will allow you to improve on your agility and physical capabilities.

●      Are you not a fan of depression? That’s great. Sleeping helps reduce the risk of getting depression.

Sticking With A Sleep Routine: Is It Worth It?

The short answer to that question is a solid yes. And using a sleep calculator will improve results tenfold. Once you start with a schedule, your body will follow suit. It is no doubt that sleeping and waking up properly will grant you more energy for the day. And after your body adjusts, you will use that alarm clock way less each day. Here are some tips for that sleep routine.

●      Never use electronic gadgets before you sleep. Although using one might make you sleepy, it is better that you refrain from them. Doing so will leave your brain with fewer distractions to worry about at all.

●      Take some time and meditate. A lot of people around the world have a hard time sleeping due to overthinking. Meditating will help clear your mind from unnecessary thinking.

●      Drink something warm before you hit the sack. A cup of tea or milk helps so much. A cold one is a tempting thing, but it will not help you sleep at all.

●      Decorate and tidy up your bedroom or sleeping area. Doing will let you relax in that setting even better. The faster you will fall asleep. Decorating will also improve the place’s aesthetic value.

What Happens When You Do Not Get Enough Sleep?

The body will suffer from plenty of things when you do not get enough sleep. Here are some of them:

●      You will have difficulties being alert as you deal with everyday activities and rountines.

●      Excessive daytime sleepiness, which means you will feel sleepy and tired most of the day

●      All the exercises you do will have no value at all.

●      You will have a difficult time memorizing and recalling things.

●      You will have a hard time participating in daily activities.

●      Lack of sleep will make you feel moody, which can affect your relationship with the rest of your family.

●      In addition, lack of sleep can affect how you look physically. You will suffer from wrinkles, eye bags, and dark circles under your eyes.

One Final Note

Using a sleep calculator will change how you sleep for good. But it is also up to you to rise to the challenge. Don’t rely on the calculator alone. Eat properly. Do a lot of exercises, and think positively. Not only will all of these improve your sleeping experience. It will all have a positive effect on how you live your life.

Thanks for readin up everyone and till next post!

keeping the kids artworks
Flexing not so little Achie’s art project. So proud of her. I could not have made something like this when I was her age. Actually, even now!

Artworks and letters from the brood

They are just too adorable and heartfelt to dispose. Children’s letters and artworks are treasures to any parents’ heart and they are just too hard to let go, at least for me.

I usually keep the cards, but when my three children start giving me love letters almost everyday, my collection of love letters have gotten so big. Then the artworks that they do, both in home school and during their free time. they pile up too. I decided to frame some, but now, I could not even choose which ones to frame. I sure hope I am not alone in this dilemma.

Can I just keep them all?

The mother's day letter they gave me last year.
The mother’s day letters they gave me last year.

Lately, what works for me is to have a binder for each of the kids. I file all their nice artworks there. I take photos of these artworks too. For those that do not seem to make the cut, I take pictures of them as well, and tuck them away in our recycling box (away from the sight of little ones whose feelings get hurt when their letters are placed in the recycling bin). By having photos of the letters and artworks, I could have something to look at when parenting / motherhood gets tough.

I tell myself I will organize all these once they are all in high school? Hahaha! Anyway as the years go by I think I would receive less letters and artworks, unlike now when writing, painting, drawing, cutting and crafts are their pastime.

Love letters from your own children are the sweetest!

As for the letters, I keep them in another binder. Hopefully, Ill sort that out when they leave the nest. I think the letters would be like a time capsule for me by that time. I will get to relive the wonderful memories of the most tiring yet happiest season of my life.

But for now, I will just file, collect, and take pictures of the artworks and letters that they painstakingly worked hard for and wholeheartedly give me. I will have a lot of time to organize all these when they have all grown up. For now, I will enjoy the snuggles, and the kulits, and answering endless questions, and the feeling that I am their most loved person in the world.

Yes, I will enjoy this season of motherhood, and I know that I will not regret doing so 🙂

Till next post!

Simple Ways To Maximize Your Family’s Savings

Simple Ways To Maximize Your Family’s Savings

Just 32.8% of Filipino families have some form of savings, according to a survey from Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas. Their survey results also revealed that these individuals were able to put aside at least 10% of their household income each month. However, this is a far cry from the 30% that experts advise Filipino households save every month. So, other than making savings on your household bills, how can you increase your family’s savings?

Utilize a bank account

The Entrepreneur reports that 19.9 million Filipinos are saving their money informally. This means their cash is being kept in places such as the home rather than in financial institutions. In total, just 9% of the population have savings in a bank account. However, there are benefits to holding such an account in your name. By stashing your savings in a bank account with an interest rate, you’ll automatically earn free money. The higher the interest rate, the more you’ll gain. This extra money in your pocket will go a long way in keeping your kids in new clothes and covering their schooling costs, so it makes sense to store your cash in a bank account rather than under your mattress.

Resolve your debts

31.7% of the Filipino population have an outstanding loan, and many more are believed to have other outstanding debts in their name. Having debt can prohibit your chances of saving 30% of your monthly income as the majority of your spare cash will go towards paying back what you owe. It’s, therefore, wise to clear your debts as it will make it easier to increase your savings and will prevent charge-offs from being placed onto your account. Thankfully, when these marks are impacting your credit score, there are things you can do to remove them, such as paying them off.

Review your food expenditure

The top reason Filipino families are unable to save is because they don’t have enough cash left at the end each month, according to ABS CBN News. Yet, they also report that the nation loves to splurge on food. Come payday, 26.2% of individuals spend more on food than they do throughout the rest of the month. It’s easy to see why as food provides the perfect opportunity for families to bond. But, there are ways to do this and spend less. Rather than throwing leftovers away, have fun as a family making unique and tasty meals together. And, when you’re in the supermarket, make a game out of who can source the cheapest ingredients.
The majority of Filipino families aren’t saving as much money each month as is recommended. But you can turn this around by signing up for a bank account, paying off your debts, and cutting back on your food costs.

We have a section on recipes and meal planning in our website, i would love you to check. This will be very helpful in mapping out meals and grocery lists. We also have the month-long P100 recipe meal plans you can check out that could help in staving off food budget costs of the family. Thanks again for stopping by, and till next post!

How moms can sleep more

How moms can sleep more

You don’t know how ungrateful you are when it comes to long and peaceful sleep until you have a baby.

It’s almost magical how you remember every time you took your sleeping hours for granted, how silly you were to binge watch a tv show till 4 AM instead of sleeping. But now that we have experienced loss of sleep due to mommy duties, we have become wiser, as we now appreciate a good night sleep, an afternoon nap, or any time we can use to rest our bodies, eyes, and minds.

And let me tell you something – sleeping is not overrated and those seven to eight hours of dozing off do make miracles for our entire health, well-being, and mood — which is of course very important as we take care of our families.

Regenerate, recover, rest, relax

Why we love to sleep so much is the question I always ask myself, and now that I got my new mattress, I think I found the answer. It’s because there is almost nothing better in the world than laying down on a mattress that’s made to meet all your needs, cuddle your frame, give you the sweet cooling you need so much, and allow you to fall asleep without the need to re-adjust over and over again.

Your cells regenerate, your mind rests, and you get to dream things that aren’t happening in reality… I can go on and on with my list why we love to sleep, but above all, I think it’s because now that we have a family, less time and more obligations, we love it because we aren’t able to nap whenever we feel like napping.

We decided to purchase a new mattress from an online store; we got our nolahmattresscoupons.com – discount codes and invested our money in a bed that showed us that we made the right purchase from the moment we lied on it.

First of all, its cover is immensely soft and breathable, and I noticed that it doesn’t make you feel sweaty and uncomfortable even after a while. The firmness is just ideal because the memory foam sinks well under my body and makes me feel hugged. I tend to sleep in various positions, and I toss a lot, which means I genuinely need excellent support no matter what position I sleep in.

My first impression was that I can lie wherever I want on the bed (in the middle or near the edges) and still, it won’t lose its shape and will not drop under my weight.

The freedom to move as much as I want

The thing that’s super important when you are getting a new bed (and it was only now that we’ve learned) is that you need a mattress with excellent motion transfer. As I said, I toss and turn, and that can be annoying for the mister, especially when he’s almost asleep. Now, he doesn’t complain anymore, and it’s nice to be able to move whenever you want without hearing mumbling from his side.

Kidding aside, but the memory foam really won’t allow any motion transfer, and you can even jump, and still, the bed remains steady. Plus, it takes the shape of my body, and it feels like custom made.

Just nap together

So, having a new mattress that has all the properties we’ve been looking for, makes my love for sleep and naps even bigger. It’s my favorite place in my home and makes me feel rested and regenerated with fewer hours of sleep. There is no more waking up in the middle of the night to get rid of the covers, or because my back hurts.

I wake up well rested, without any pain in my back or muscles. It’s large enough to welcome us both, but there is still room for cuddling and napping for the entire family.

Till next post!

No More Tossing and Turning: 4 Tips for Improving Your Sleep as a Mom

Being a mom can get you sleep deprived, but still there are times when you CAN already rest from mommy duties and can already sleep, yet you cannot just doze off. Getting a good night’s sleep is really important for moms to feel at their best, and it is vital to helping your body function properly, too. Most people (including tired mothers) however, do experience times when they find it hard to get to sleep, wake frequently in the night, or simply can’t get that well-rested feeling that comes with quality sleep. If you have a problem with chronic insomnia rather than occasional sleeplessness, the best thing to do is talk to your doctor. However, if you are experiencing sleep problems from time to time, these tips can help encourage good, relaxing sleep.

Make Your Room As Comfortable As Possible

Lots of things can interfere with sleep, including light, noise, being too hot or cold, or simply not being able to get comfortable in bed. If any of these are a problem in your room, you should look to address them as they could be the source of your sleep troubles. Get comfortable bed linen, look at ways to block out light, and consider using earplugs or a white noise machine if you can’t stop the noise.  If your mattress is uncomfortable, it’s also worth upgrading to a new model.  This won’t just help you sleep better, but will improve your health during the day as well.

Have a Routine

You may think having a bedtime is for children, however, getting into a nightly routine and going to bed around the same time can help signal to your body and mind that it is time to rest. Add something relaxing into your bedtime routine, like having a warm drink, reading for a while, watching something calming on TV, or taking a bath, to help you go to bed in an already calm state. Don’t try and switch gears from doing something energetic, stressful or very focused to resting – make sure you leave a good gap between working, exercising, or other more stimulating activities before bed. It is also best to avoid trying to sleep right after your main meal, as digestion can cause sleep disruption.

Avoid Alcohol, Cigarettes and Caffeine

Drinking alcohol, smoking cigarettes and consuming caffeine during the evening can make it harder for you to fall asleep, and stay asleep.  Because of this, it’s best to avoid consuming them where possible.  You’ll also want to consider how late you eat your evening meal.  Eating a heavy meal late at night will cause your body to work overtime to digest it, and this too can make it hard for you to fall asleep.  Where possible, avoid eating large meals in the two to three hours before you go to bed.  If you do find you’re still hungry, eat a small snack such as a cracker and a glass of milk.

‘Reset’ if You Can’t Fall Asleep

If you can’t fall asleep, get up for five minutes and have a drink of water, use the bathroom, or perform some other minor task, then go back to bed. This can help you reset the act of going to bed, rather than feeling as if you have been lying awake for a long time.  If you still can’t sleep, get up and do something relaxing, such as reading.  Avoid electronic devices and entertainment devices like the television as the light these devices emit can make your brain feel like it’s time to wake up.  If this is a common problem, you may want to remove all electronic devices from the bedroom on a permanent basis.

Sleep problems can be very frustrating, but with these tips, you can look for ways to combat them and have more restful nights! Till next post!

How You Can Feel Confident Again as a Mother

How You Can Feel Confident Again as a Mother

Motherhood is a wonderful, magical experience. Despite the magic, motherhood is also one of the most challenging times in a woman’s life. Some mothers are naturally confident in their abilities. Most mothers need a little convincing that there is a supermom just waiting to be freed from the uncertainties that they experience everyday.

Feeling uncertain isn’t all bad though. It just means that you recognize the gift and responsibility you have in helping your little bundle of joy develop into the person that he or she would want to be in the future. Don’t worry if confidence doesn’t come naturally at first. Your baby already thinks you’re the greatest. This little guide will help remind you that you are too!

BE REALISTIC

People often say that your life will change dramatically once you have a child. Embrace the changes with open arms! According to Erica Komisar, author of Being There: Why Prioritizing Motherhood in The First Three Years Matter, “If you accept the slow pace of being with a baby, focus on being in the moment together, and reduce your expectations of how much you can do everyday you will be a more content and more confident mom.”

A STRONG SUPPORT SYSTEM IS KEY

Filipinos are usually open to lending a helping hand and some tips. Don’t be afraid to ask your mother or mother-in-law for help. They’ve been through what you’re going through. Tap into their rich experience. Your partner is also there to share the responsibilities with you. All you have to do is ask.

If things get a little too overwhelming, decide if you need another person in your Mommy Dream Team. Don’t know where to start? Check out this article we wrote on Happy Pinay Mommy on hiring a yaya and househelp from local agencies.

BUT DON’T FALL INTO THE BLACKHOLE OF BAD ADVICE

It takes a village to raise a child… or a barangay! It’s good to have people around but you also have to be careful of the advice that you take. Keep in mind that YOU know YOUR BABY the best. Trust your intuition! It’s your own superpower.

TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF

Usually the first thing that goes out of the window when the baby comes in is the stylish woman that you used to see in the mirror. There’s nothing wrong with giving yourself even just 15 minutes a day to help yourself feel better and more confident. You can start by dressing up a bit even when you’re just doing errands. Filipino fashion label BNY Jeans suggests going back to basics because being comfortable doesn’t mean being in your daster.

STOP TRYING TO BE PERFECT

Another source of worry for mothers is the need to be perfect. Don’t believe everything you see on social media. More often than not, those displays of #ParentingGoals don’t usually tell the whole story. There is no such a thing as a PERFECT mother so give yourself enough breathing space when things don’t go as planned. Letting go of the need to be perfect will make you happier and more confident.

happypinaymommy reflections open letter to moms

Hi Ladies! Came across this open letter to moms, written by Mommy Sheng Paredes-Paiton, and upon reading, I immediately knew that I am one of the intended recipients of this open letter. Being in the trenches of motherhood is never easy, and inspiring letters like this should be disseminated to as many mothers so that those who can relate could be inspired too.

Mommy Sheng wrote her Open Letter after she sent off her 13-year old daughter Sarah to Highschool, as she will have to stay in a dormitory.

With the permission of Mommy Sheng, I am publishing her Open Letter for us:

=======================================

Dear mommies,

I am one of the mommies who woke up today with a bleeding heart to take my girl home. I am one of the mommies who woke up crying because our girl’s bed is well kept but empty. She has moved on to the next chapter of her life at 13 years old and it’s just so sad.

happy pinay mommy

“Mommies, love your littles, hug them tight because time goes by so fast.” Mommy Sheng’s daughters: 13 year old Sarah, and three-year old Zoe.

I have all eyes on her since day one. I knew that mole on her left shoulder was the first and the one on her neck is her latest. I knew that she got that scar on her knee when she and her friends crashed her bike on our neighbor’s gate. I knew Bubbles and Angel, Sachy, Julia and Jas — they are her BFFs since she was little. I knew she said “palatastas” even at 13. I knew she loves books and music and outdoors. But why does it feel like I’m missing on a lot of things?

Mommies, love your littles, hug them tight because time goes by so fast. Let them play with their toys, mess around. Just close your eyes when you step on them, feel the pain, because one day soon you will keep that toy away. Let them paint the tables, draw on your walls because you will be staring at them, loving the moment. Let them cry over toys, hate you for a while, don’t get furious mom, these will give you a good laugh as you go along the memory lane. Say good words, kind words, I love you’s and goodnights — these will become corny in time.

Mommy Sheng and her family: eldest daughter Sarah, Three-year old daughter Zoe, and her husband Daddy Dhandy.

Mommy Sheng and her family: eldest daughter Sarah, Three-year old daughter Zoe, and her husband Dhandy.

Seize the moment. Grab it because when they start chasing their dreams there is no more stopping. All you can do is hug and let go, and you will hear them say, ‘i love you mommy i will be okay, ikaw yung hindi e.’”

Looking for maid yaya and driver agencies in the Philippines? Here’s a list. (Photo Credits)

One of the biggest concerns of working parents is hiring competent, trustworthy and reliable yaya and househelp. With all the horror stories that have gone viral, the quest for the ultimate Inday has become more and more elusive for most families.

And while most would say that the best househelp or nanny could be a distant relative or someone referred by a relative or a friend from the province, not all families have the means to tap such talent especially those who may not have relatives in the provinces.

I have written several posts on yayas leaving when they are needed most, as well as permanent solutions to Yaya problems, and one of the steps to move on from losing a reliable kasambahay (or letting go of an inefficient one) is hiring a new one.

The next best option or place to hire one is from an agency that HOPEFULLY screens the yayas, maids, and househelp that it provides to its clients. And while there are horror stories about agency-referred yayas and maid, it cannot be denied that there are families who have been fortunate enough to have found a great kasambahay from an agency.

So for those of who you are willing to try their luck on an agency, (and those who may have extra moolah for placement fee), here is a list of –

Maid yaya and driver agencies in the Philippines:

  1. Maid Provider PH – This is on of the most modern way of hiring a kasambahay wherein after getting in touch with an agency, the agency will set up an interview – the method of which will depend on your availability. They offer phone interview, online interview, and even face-to-face interviews. Once you have chosen a househelp from the ones that they have lined up for you, you would have to settle the fees (which you can do over the internet as they accept credit cards) and they will deliver the yaya, maid or househelp right at your doorstep. To know more about their agency services, here is a link to their website.
  2. Maid in the Philippines – Is yet another Maid and yaya agency that promises to provide competent services to your family. They can even provide you a cook which has an experience in local and international food, they can also provide for you a caregiver for your elders or loved ones with disabilities, as well as drivers and other domestic help needs. They boast of having a wide range of maids to choose from, one day hiring process, free replacement within a six month period, plus a refund guarantee. Their service is automated as well as the resume of the domestic help that you can choose from can be emailed to you so you can choose and review prior to conducting interviews. They also deliver the maid or yaya to your home upon settlement of fees. Here is a link to their website.

(Post Continued Below)

========================================================

===================================================================

  1. Charmonde Cane Manpower – Is a maid and yaya agency provider based in Rizal. They claim that they provide certified and affordable househelp, yayas and caregivers, who are well-trained, have appropriate NBI clearances, and have undergone medical screening. Once you have specified your needs, they will present to you the househelp that you can interview, you will then choose from the roster of maids and househelp that they have and then they will bring the maid to your home soon after. They promise that they do not have hidden fees, and that the contracts that they have are all in accordance to the Kasambahay Law. Here is a link to their website.
  2. Maid.Ph – Is yet another yaya agency that promises to provide reliable domestic help for your family. Apart from presenting to you an online bio data of prospective yaya and househelp, they also have in their file biometrics of the domestic helpers in their roster. They also claim that they conduct a background investigation on the maids that are part of their manpower pool and that they do a stringent checking of the legal documents that are being presented to therm. Head on to their website here.

So there you have it, I am sure there are other Maid, yaya, and driver agencies in the Philippines that you can choose from. Again, please, please do your own diligent work in checking the agencies and the maids that you choose to care for your families. No one can ever guarantee that. On my part, I will be updating this blog post once I have learned about more maid agencies in the Philippines. If you have time, hope you can drop by my Facebook Page, to receive happypinaymommy.com updates straight on your newsfeed. Please hit the like button while you’re at it too!

There are teething necklaces and chewblings, frozen teethers and washcloths, pedia-prescribed gum wipes, and for some even pain relievers.

I am not a really creative mom, and I have taken steps to learn bento making, but I really, really have a long way to go. Anyway, here is a list of —

Shops where you can buy Bento Tools and Accessories in the Philippines:

You can get molds, different sized containers, colorful dividers and other accessories for as low as 66.00! They usually have branches in Robinson’s Malls, but their store in Galleria is really a fun branch to check out.

Buy DIY Party SUpplies in the Philippines

Want to throw a DIY party? Here’s where you can buy DIY Party Supplies in the Philippines. (Photo Credits)

Parties are fun, but it could be very expensive. And this is why most moms who would like to save up on their children’s parties would want to try the DIY or Do-it-yourself route in some (or all) aspects of the party they are throwing.

There are many places where you could buy DIY Party Supplies in the Philippines. In Manila for instance, Divisoria is the most common bagsakan area where you really could buy everything you would have wanted for your DIY Party in Manila at a super cheap cost.

But not all moms have the time and energy to trek to Divi. So for those moms this post is for you.

Where to buy DIY Party Supplies in the Philippines:

  1. Divisoria – The malls in Divisoria like 168 has all the party needs that you may like.. from balloons, to decorations, to give-aways, and game prizes, they have it all at a tiny fraction of the cost that you would have to shell out if you were to buy in malls! At the same time you may also head to Ilaya and Tabora Streets (yes the same streets where you can buy some DIY Cloth Diaper Supplies and Fabric which I wrote about here and here) for other DIY supplies.
  2. Malls – Some malls have party supplies shops that sell DIY party goods minus the stress that comes with divi shopping. These include the bazaar area in Market, Market Taguig (I think it is named Eden’s), Celebrations Party Central in Rockwell Powerplant Mall (dizzying Pinterest-style stocks, super fun!), Invitation House at Greenbelt 5 (nice pinterest-style craft materials – you can also order customized birthday buntings in Manila here, as well as invites, personalized chocolate wrappers, and the like). If you are from the San Juan or Quezon City area, then you may wanna check out the party supplies stalls over at V-Mall and Greenhills particularly Regina’s. Toy stores like Toys R Us also have a party supplies aisle, and so with big book stores!

  1. Department Stores – If you are gunning for a pinterest-worthy candy buffet but you want to remain on budget then check out the displays over at Landmark Makati, SM Department stores (the bigger ones like that in SM Makati has a lot in store!), as well as Robinson’s Department Stores. They have nice tiered muffin/cupcake holders, Giant Mason-Jar like juice jugs, as well as other wares that you may use in your candy buffet!
  2. Dapitan Arcade – Again, if you are aiming for an “instagrammable” birthday spread, then head on over at Dapitan QC (yes the same place where you can buy super affordable Christmas and Home Decors) and check out the homewares there that are usually unique, can be classic – can be avant garde! I am sure you will buy more than what you intended to buy which is actually bad for the budget but happy for your mommy heart.
  3. “Odd Ball” Stores – If you are from the South then you may want to check out Uniwide Warehouse along Sucat Road. I earlier included this place as a great location to shop for cheap and cheerful Christmas decors, but hey they have great DIY Party supplies too  but it is up to you to rummage and look around in their big warehouse. For those in the QC Area, head on over at Katipunan, and across La Vista – I am sure you know this if you are from the area – you will see Shoppersville Supermarket. Go to the second floor and there you can buy the bamboo pabitin stuff if your party will be needing such, and they also have pinatas among other games for the parties. They also have super cheap but funny-looking candies that will remind you of your gradeschool years (hello Moony and Mikmik, and Lala)! They also have plastic balloons, divi toys etc that you can put inside your party lootbags. They also have other party favors, party hats, and banners. Another useful tip – they also customize cakes at a very affordable price – check out their bakeshop. You may also wanna go around your neighborhood to check out your community party supplies shop. If you do not need a lot, then Toys R Us also has themed plates, hats, serving wares, and lootbags, plus balloons for you, which are actually very similar to what you can see in Rustan’s Supermarkets!
  4. Facebook Shops – There are many facebook-based shops that sell party supplies, but here are some you may wanna check out: My Little Party Shop Manila – has super nice party supplies for your theme parties which include serving wares, buntings, decors and balloons – here is a link to their FB Shop. If you however are looking for the online Divisoria type of FB Shop for your DIY Party then check out Party Items Express for hassle-free shopping. They have balloons, decors, party favors, special game prizes, loot bags, as well as other craft supplies. Check out their FB Page here. Marykiel’s on the other hand has various types of balloons as well as other DIY Party supplies in the Philippines. Here is a link to their shop.
  5. UPDATED: June 23, 2016: 854 Party Mania Is a haven for DIY Party moms! And why not they have almost everything that you could ever need. They have a store in Divi, but they have this website (which according to them is only surf-able via google chrome), where you can place your orders. Check out their stuff, it is very affordable as well! Here is a link to their website.
  6. UPDATED: June 23, 2016: Party Basics Online — This is the same line of party products that you usually see in malls and stores. Yes they have an online shopping platform so you can avoid the traffic and shop at the comforts of your own home! Here is a link to their website.
  7. UPDATED August 04, 2016: Party Pieces by Zoey — Is another party supplies shop that offers nice and creative DIY supplies like plates, lootbags, decors and even invites. Check out their FB shop here.
  8. UPDATED August 4, 2016: Mara Ella’s Party Supplies — Is a Cebu-Based Party supplies shop that has a wide array of loot bag fillers, party bags and pails, DIY Decor and more. Check out their FB Store here.

So, there you have it. I am sure there are other places and Online Shops where you may buy DIY Party Supplies in the Philippines. I will be updating this post as I discover more shops. If you have the time, hope you could drop by my Facebook page and hit the like button, so you can receive regular updates from Happypinaymommy.com direct on your newsfeed.

Buy Mason Jars in the Philippines

Are you looking to Buy Mason Jars in the Philippines? (Photo Credits)

If you are looking for Mason Jars, and where to buy them then this post is for you. I so like mason jars because they are classic, functional, and at the same time a great way to organize a home. That is why when I say a box of mason jars in a mall outlet near our place I grabbed a box, and made use of the many jars in there for our drinks, salads, soups (for serving-sized portions), our kitchen supplies, make ahead meals in serving sizes, cooking oil for recycling and the like.

Before I get carried away, I will be giving you already the list of where you can buy mason jars in the Philippines. These stores could either be physical stores,or could be online as well.

Places where you can buy Mason Jars in the Philippines:

  1. Department Stores – You will be surprised because mason jars are aplenty in some department stores particularly SM and Robinsons’, and they come in various sizes and colors. Some even the mug type. If you want to just buy a couple, then it is ok to buy here, but if you will be using it as gifts, giveaways or you just want to buy in bulk, then read the rest of this post.
  2. True Value – Here’s where I bought my first box of Mason Jars, and I have been buying here ever since. It is relatively cheap. More than a year ago the 16 oz wide-mouth jar, if I am not mistaken will cost less than P70.00 if bought in boxes. There are true value outlets in Rockwell, Century City, Glorietta, etc

  1. Lazada– If you want to shop online, and want to settle on a cash-on-delivery basis then you might as well buy your Mason jars over at Lazada. You can get this set for less than P300.00 – buy it here. They also have bigger mason jars that are great for when you have visitors over at your home.
  2. Divisoria – For those who are brave enough to go to Divisoria amidst the heavy traffic, then why not head to the Tabora Street and find mason jars there that are sold individually or by bulk.
  3. Mason Jars PH – This is a Faceboook shop that sells a lot Ball Mason Jars in different styles, sizes and colors! Mason Jars PH for instance has a lot of Mason Jar styles in stock and they ship nationwide. Here is a link to their shop.
  4. Instagram Shops – There are also a lot of Instagram Shops that sell Mason Jars, and these include All in the Bag — see the link here and then Green Selections, among others. Green Selections for one sells plastic storage caps for Mason Jars! (Truly what you will want especially if you will be storing liquids in your jar! Love this!), check out her shop here.
  5. OLX – You can find a lot of Mason Jar sellers in this site. Usual caution though should be exercised when buying as some do not have Social Media Shops or websites where you can make follow-ups if ever.

So, there you have it. I am sure there are other places and Online Shops where you may buy mason jars in the Philippines. I will be updating this post as I discover more shops.
