Daily devotional: Grace to raise kids

If you ever find yourself in a season where you feel like your best is not enough to raise your children then heed the Lord’s invitation to you. He calls you to bring over all your worries by His feet. He calls you to hand over your concerns and frustrations about motherhood.

And He assures you that He has more than enough grace to cover whatever past, present and future failure you make as a mother.

Isaiah 54:13
Isaiah 54:13

“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9

And when we come to Him, let us tag our children along. Let us teach our children to pray, read and reflect on His words. Let us talk to our kids about it, and how they could apply in their little lives the
lessons and stories we read from the Bible and hear in church.

Let us share to our children our love for Jesus. We can tell them why we love Him and why they should love and worship Him too. And as we share the gospel to our kids, and teach them to obey God, the Lord’s spirit will teach and train them to become the persons He has willed them to be.

“All your children will be taught by the Lord, and great will be their peace.” Isaiah 54:13

As parents God commands us to teach our children to love and worship Him. And as we do just that and raise our children guided by Biblical principles, our Heavenly Father promises to take it from there and
disciple them.

“And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These words I am commanding you today are to be upon your hearts. And you shall teach them diligently to your children and speak of them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” Deuteronomy 6:5-7

Practically speaking, we can start by regularly bringing our children to church, and talking to them about what was discussed during worship. We also pray with them, and read the bible with them. We also model to them the joy of reading the Bible, and delighting in God’s word by doing that ourselves too.
More importantly, we ought to live by the principles we teach them.

Thank you for reading through our devotional today. I invite you to ponder on Deuteronomy 6:4-8 to dig deeper on today’s topic.

Reflection Question: What is one step you can take this week to lay your parenting concerns before God, and help your children get to know the Lord better?

Conversation with the Lord: Heavenly Father, thank you very much for offering to take my parenting burdens from me. I really do not know how to go about everything if not for your guidance and presence in my life. Please empower and strengthen me, my Lord. Amen.
