Daily devotional: Legacy of devotion

As moms, our devotion and dependence on the Lord, models for our children, the love and faith we have for God. It quietly assures them that there is a Heavenly Father who looks out for them. It guarantees them that whatever challenges come their way, the guidance and the protection of the Lord will envelop them.

Psalm 112:1-2
Psalm 112:1-2

“Praise the LORD! Blessed is the man who fears the LORD,
who delights greatly in His commandments. His descendants will be mighty on earth; the generation of the upright will be blessed” Psalm 112:1-2

Heavily dependent on the Lord

And as our children grow up and meet inevitable life crises, the faith, dependence, and devotion we have for Jesus will come to their mind. Whether we are still around to support them, what they remember from us would at least remind them to seek comfort from Him.

And just like their moms, they would find hope, healing, deliverance, and strength from the one true Savior. The same Redeemer who enabled their parents to leave a legacy of faith.

“Blessed are all who fear the Lord, who walk in obedience to him. You will eat the fruit of your labor; blessings and prosperity will be yours. Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your children will be like olive shoots around your table. Yes, this will be the blessing for the man who fears the Lord.” Psalm 128:1-4

Life built on a foundation of truth

In the end, when we build our life on Jesus and in His truth, our children are more likely to grow up hopeful, resilient, and upright stewards of God’s blessings.

Thank you for reading our devotional today. Kindly read Psalm 128 for a deeper dive into our topic.

Reflection Question:  Have you ever thought of what the kids will remember about you when they are all grown up and you are no longer around? How can you leave a legacy of faith and devotion to Jesus to them?

Conversation with the Lord: Heavenly Father, thank you for giving me the opportunity to leave a legacy of faith to my children. Give me the grace to be able to do so. Support and embrace me with your love. Amen.
