Daily devotional: No Requirement

Perfection is never a requirement for any of us to start and remain in a deep and loving relationship with our Heavenly Father. All we need to have in order to experience the grace and miracle of a fresh start
is a heart that is willing to believe in Jesus. A heart that is willing to let go of a sinful life.

We need a teachable heart that is resilient enough to bounce back and try again when it falters. A heart stabilized with deep faith, fully aware of God’s loving mercy.

“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22-23

And so, being imperfect does not disqualify us from following Jesus, and staying the course. Being imperfect only means we need Him more. We need to pursue Him more through prayer, through scripture, and by trying our best to honor Him one life choice at a time.

“But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him.” 1 Corinthians 1:27-29

Reflection Question: When you falter in your quest to honor Jesus, do you instantly feel disqualified to be in a relationship with Him? How does knowing that God’s heart is big enough to understand and forgive
us, make you feel? What steps will you take to assure yourself that you can continue nurturing your relationship with the Heavenly Father even when you make mistakes?

Conversation with the Lord: Heavenly Father, thank you that your mercies are new every morning. Thank you that we can try again, and endeavor to become better as we claim your forgiveness for the wrong things that we have done. Thank you, you love us enough to assure us that we can always come to you. Grant me the confidence to continue pursuing you. Amen.
