Life difficulties are inevitable, and being a follower of Jesus does not exempt us from going through such. Our Savior, Himself primed us about this truth. With it came His assurance that He will be with us, and strengthen us as we endure these hardships.
“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and the rivers will not overwhelm you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, and the flame will not burn you.” Isaiah 43:1-2
And once our storm has passed and we have experienced the Lord’s refreshing, may we have the confidence to return the favor. We can do so by paying the love and comfort we have received forward. To people who are experiencing pain and going through the same difficulty we have gone through.
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
May we be courageous enough to testify to the Lord’s deliverance. May we not give in to the temptation to hide that we have just emerged from pain so that we could seem strong. Let us allow ourselves to be proud that we have been held and strengthened by the God who comes close, the God who lifts us up, and the God who truly sustains.
Thank you for reading through our devotional today. I invite you to ponder on Matthew 11:28–30 to dig deeper on today’s topic.
Reflection Question: Have you ever passed on the comfort you experience from the Lord to others who are suffering the same experience as you?
Conversation with the Lord: Heavenly Father, thank you for being the good Father that you are, comforting us at our deepest distresses. May we be able to pass on the same comfort to others, so that we could glorify You with our lives. Amen.
