What has been done to us in the past that greatly hurt us, never compares to all the good that God has done for us in the years in between. Let us not allow the pain of the past to prevent us from remembering how much God loves us. May our past grief, trauma, and struggles fail to overpower us from taking hold of the abundant life God has for us in the future.
“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland.” Isaiah 43:18-19
Whatever may have happened may we keep in mind that there is still life that’s left in us. And there is life that is ahead of us if only we will decide to journey with Jesus. When we take hold of the abundant life He has died for us to live.
“Instead of your shame there shall be a double portion; instead of dishonor they shall rejoice in their lot; therefore in their land they shall possess a double portion; they shall have everlasting joy. For I the LORD love justice; I hate robbery and wrong; I will faithfully give them their recompense, and I will make an everlasting covenant with them.” Isaiah 61:7-8

Reflection Question: Does your past prevent you from moving on to the future God has promised you? How does knowing that there is no condemnation in Him, and that He is a restorative God, convince you to move forward and take hold of His promises?
Conversation with the Lord: Heavenly Father, thank you for never giving up on us. For encouraging us to not allow the pain of our past, hinder us from taking hold of your good plans for my life. Give me the grace to draw strength from your character and promises. Amen.
